A few years ago who would've thought that Sony would become so dedicated to releasing catalog titles (and Warners would start cutting back?) Cheers to the folks at Sony restoration and home video.

I'll probably be picking up every title in the first wave in the next DD sale. I was just thinking about $ the other day, too.
Hope the rest don't take too long either- I've been craving a chance to see Nightwing for years.

$ and The Anderson Tapes are two good 70's thrillers that should have been released a long time ago.

I can't see any unifying theme among all these films however. But if they decide to release the first group as a boxed set so I can save a few more bucks, I'm all for it.

I always drink an extra-dry martini whenever watching CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT so I hope they release that one soon, too!

I hear $, The Anderson Tapes, and The New Centurions are great. How are the others?

Been meaning to see Husbands and Cassavetes' other stuff.

This is good news, and I hope I see Night of the Creeps and/or The Legend of Billie Jean coming soon as well.

I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER is to some, TV filmish I guess, but I found it to be a very powerful and moving film.

I've never seen any of these but a line called "Martini Movies" sounds fun to me.

I don't believe FIVE (1951) has ever been released on home video. It's one of the few "end of the world" movies I've never seen. Nice list, I want most of them.

Thanks to Criterionforum.org for this link. Here's Cassavetes, Falk and Gazzara making a drunken mockery of The Dick Cavett Show. Commercials included.

Yup. Surely the most random inclusion in a series of unrelated films.

I wonder if Sony will ever release Mickey One??? This series seems to consist of random and obscure titles so it's a natural. Although I thought that they might have tried to ride the coattails of the recent Bonnie and Clyde release ("a stylish cult thriller from the star and director of Bonnie and Clyde!!" or something similar).

If Sony continues to release little known catalog titles under the Martini Movies banner, I'd also love to see 8 Million Ways to Die, Age of Consent, Drive, He Said, Buster and Billie, Happy Birthday Wanda Jane, Fuller's The Crimson Kimono, Deadly Affair, The Hireling, Nicholas Ray's Bogie vehicle Knock on Any Door,Pushover, and a couple of Joseph Losey films, the 1951 remake of M and The Sniper.

I have no idea about Sony's plans for a DVD, but there is a "new" print of Mickey One out there. It played at the Museum of Modern Art earlier this year.

Mike Schlesinger of Sony has responded to some emails; more details about other upcoming titles are in this thread at HTF. On Mickey One:

MICKEY ONE is on hold pending the participation of Warren Beatty (post #57)

A Boetticher/Randolph Scott western set would be fantastic - his films are criminally underrepresented on dvd. Great news on the noirs as well. How great would a box set of The Dark Past, Framed, Lang's Human Desire, Tourneur's Nightfall, and The Mob be? That's just the tip of the iceberg - Columbia released about two dozen Noirs that have yet to see the light of day on dvd.

From the press release:

"MARTINI MOVIES DVDS INCLUDE “MARTINI MINUTES”
How to Hold Your Liquor
How to Pull Off a Heist
How to Play the Leading Lady
How to Play the Leading Man"
Ugh.

Hayworth is looking a little green around the gills.
