Halloween 07 - 3 Disc CE - 10/21

http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/12726

Fangoria got word this afternoon that Dimension Extreme has planned an October 21 release for a Three-Disc Collector’s Edition for Rob Zombie’s Halloween (review), which will contain Zombie’s all-new four-and-a-half-hour documentary about the making of the film. No other details have been revealed. After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, is mistakenly released from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.

Could we get the workprint version along with this release? Only way I will pick it up is if it has 2 versions or more of the film.

While I didn't LOVE this movie, I definitely didn't hate it. I'd pick this up based on how well done the "Devil's Rejects" documentary was... and if the workprint cut is present.

The documentary is only 270 minutes long? F, that's too short. I'm holding out for a longer edition.

I wonder if the Halloween remake is trying to have a contest with the original Halloween to see how many different versions of a film on DVD one can have.
How many different versions were released or the Halloween 07 last year? At least two right? Plus all the exclusives and what not.

Oh well, it does sound like this one will be worth it.

I nabbed all the exclusives, so I might as well get this. I liked the first half of the movie a lot, not so much the second half.

Probably will take a wait & see approach with this and see what folks here say about the extras.

I won't bite unless it has the original and work print versions.

What was in the workprint that makes people so curious to see it?

Not sure if this is necessary or not, lol. I enjoyed the film to a point. I didn't think it was the worst remake ever, that's for sure.

Agreed. I really can't see myself watching a documentary that is more than twice as long as the movie it's about. I would have a hard time watching a documentary that long in general, much less about a movie that I only thought was good but not outstanding.

Does this release have extra footage or a better print in this new DVD?
I held off on buying the original releases so if this is an extended movie version or sharper print I may get this, but if the movie wasn't upgraded I may just go with the earlier release. Also depends on price.
Also according to the site- Directors cut Dec 18th

You know, I consider documentaries on the making of movies to be my favorite extra on DVDs, but 4 1/2 hours? That's kinda overkill, if you ask me...

A 4-hour, or even 2-hour documentary would be worth it if the movie was actually good. I thought it was alright, and I'm very happy I got the Best Buy exclusive with the Lenticular cover, but I don't think a big documentary is worth it if the final result is only so-so.

I don't want to double dip just for extras; I liked te extras on the unrated disc.

Plus, I got it autographed by Malcolm McDowell, Danielle Harris, Scout T Compton, and Kritstina Klebe.

As already said, will only buy if a new cut of the film (close or same as workprint) is included

OH, COME ON!!!!

I already spent 40 bucks to buy both versions to make a 4-disc edition (includes the bonus CC disc).

The Devils Rejects making doc, was amazing; even though this movie was rather 'meh,' I'll definitely check it out.

A few points.

I hear hate for the Halloween remake all the time, but would you have rather seen ANOTHER shitty sequel instead?

The Devil's Reject doc was awesome.

I picked up the workprint version from a street vendor in Iraq for two bucks, pretty good quality for a boot, and it might just be better than the final print IMO.

If this ends up on a Blu-ray version I'll pick it up, otherwise I'm happy with the copy I have.
