Downtown (MTV animated series) release question

So it appears Downtown is finally on DVD...as an Internet exclusive.

http://chrisprynoski.blogspot.com/

I have no doubt this is a legit release...it's coming from the creator of the show, and it is not a bootleg of the series.

Has anybody here bought this? Is it actual factory made DVDs or burned DVDs made on a computer? Because I've seen official releases like this on the Internet before turn out to be legit, but still burned DVDs.

If I am throwing money down for a DVD set, I like to know it was professionally made in a real factory, not just burned off on some computer. Even if it's legit, and the creator has every right to release it that way, it still feels like a bootleg to me and I've had quality issues with burned DVDs in the past I'd like to avoid.

From: Toronto.
I'm interested as well... Saw it a while ago, forgot about it.

There's a discussion about the DVDs here:
http://downtownfans.proboards50.com/

Sounds like they're burnt on a per order basis.

and reading the description:
"The $25 you'll be charged on paypal is for the shipping, handling, box, dvd media and labor - not for the content on the dvds themselves! you dig?"
makes it sound like it's not authorized by MTV.

Make sure to check out the board!

For Bub and myself, I suppose...

I posted my question on Chris' blog and he replied...

Actual 100% factory made dvds! I mean, I assume they were made in a factory. I wasn't actually there. They may have been made in an office building or something with professional dvd making machines. But they are definitely not burned. They are even screen printed full color, not slapped with crappy sticker style labels.
I am holding the dude to that! I am ordering them today, and if they are anything less, I guess I have Pay Pal backing me up, for whatever that is worth.

And I am sure they aren't authorized by MTV. But the show is creator owned (I am assuming...MTV/Paramount isn't cracking down on this) and the DVDs are coming from him directly. It's not like they are being sold out of a car trunk in New York City. So they are authorized by the person who made the show. That's good enough for me. If MTV/Paramount didn't want to release it, that's cool.

(I wonder if the disclaimer is due to music rights issues or something...?)

Just got my set now. Haven't popped a disc in, but they are absolutely factory replicated discs.

They have Downtown specific info in the stacking rings.

BTW, thanks for this thread.

This is one of those shows I loved, but totally forgot ever existed. Without this thread I never would've known about the DVDs.

Halfway through the episodes right now.

I had forgotten how much I like this show - it's a blast. And the presentation is very nice. Episodes look terrific.

Awesome... question for ya.. how long did it take for you DVD to ship? I ordered mine around 2 weeks ago & still haven't received it or heard anything.

I know you didn't ask me personally, but I can verify mine were pretty darn quick. I forget exactly how long, but certainly not 2 weeks plus.

Placed my order on 6/23 and got them on 7/2, so just over a week.
