T2: Extreme Edition or Ultimate Edition for Best Special Features?

I was wondering what most DVD-Talkers consider to be the best DVD edition of Terminator 2 when it comes to the included special features. The Ultimate Edition or the newer Extreme Edition?

The EE has the better transfer of the film, but only a few extra featurettes found on the second disc. It also has a James Cameron commentary, and it is the SE of the film. The ultimate edition, has the theatrical cut, special edition, and extended SE, then all of the extras are on the second disc or the flip side. I don't remember all of them off hand, but the ultimate edition has the better extras. I hope this helps.

The Ultimate Edition has the better (and larger quantity of) extras overall, but the James Cameron commentary on the Extreme Edition is an essential listen if you're a big fan of the movie. I agree with UAIOE; if you're interested in special features, it's probably worth it to get both (the EE is only $5 or less new in most places, and the UE can be picked up used for less than that).

The EE contains the theatrical cut as well (as a hidden Easter Egg).

xage, I dunno if you'd be interested in it or not, but if you are a big fan of Terminator, I suggest checking out the Australian Exclusive Tin. I got one, and it was truly worth the money, at least in my most humble opinion.

Basically, the UE is best in terms of extras, and the EE is better in terms of the transfer (along with some good extras in itself).

Both can be had pretty cheaply, so it's not a bad idea to snag both.

I owned both for awhile, but gave the EE to my brother after viewing it with the (excellent!) commentary. I love commentaries, but I rarely listen to them more than once. The UE's extras are really nice, and kind of delve into the universe/concepts in more detail than most SE features usually do.

Sentimental alert: The UE is also the very first DVD I purchased; I watched it on the DVD-ROM in my computer before even getting a regular DVD player.

Both.

Old DVD: Extensive video features on Disc 2/Side 2, including deleted scenes, documentaries, trailers, interviews, B-roll, alternate takes, and more. Be aware, though, if you buy this release, that I nearly missed most of this great stuff -- it's in a not-quite-as-obvious-as-it-could-be "gallery" in the Special Features. Additionally there is an interview commentary, and I think, if you like the Theatrical Cut like I do, this is the only one of the two to contain it.

New DVD: Actual audio commentary by James Cameron and William Wisher, one of the best, and a second disc of not-as-expansive but still very good documentaries about T2's CGI (and the invention of Photoshop!) plus a really nice transfer of the movie.

Note that the stuff on the old DVD is generally archival material, while the Extreme Edition contains features actually created for the DVD.

I'm going to have to chime in and say both also. See the thread below for other comments.

No, like I said above, it's on the EE as well. I don't know why they made it an Easter Egg selection (go to Sensory Control on the menu, hit right 4 times), since it's led a lot of people to believe it's not on the EE, but it is there.

The UE blows the EE away in terms of special features. But yes, true fans will definitely want to own both versions.

I just wonder when the Maximum Edition with the Titanium slipcover on Blu-ray will arrive? Of course that will shortly be followed by the Conclusive Edition which will actually have less supplemental material and force die-hard fans to once again double dip. And neither of those Blu-ray editions will have all the features from the previous DVD releases forcing ultra die-hard fans to quadruple dip! Bastards.
