Freaks and Geeks Yearbook to be re-released?

And I don't think an OOP Criterion is the same thing. Criterions aren't limited from the beginning, and they are not perceived as a collectible until Criterion loses their license. The key here is and remains that this was advertised to the fans, by its creators in a personal letter that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and they were, as said, "breaking the mold, never again" on such a set. And this release is not another limited run of 25,000, or motivated by those same creators as "another special chance to own this collectible" or something like that, this seems to be solely based on the fact that the show's stars have shot to fame and so now what was once deemed special by people who gave us the show is cashed-in simply to profit off the fame of its alumni.

I can't believe those who already have the yearbook are complaining. Yeah it wasn't limited like originally said, but I can't think of any reason why you would be upset other then if you were hoping to sell it and reap the collector's value of the item. Otherwise, sounds like just being selfish.

As for the Anchor Bay statement, again, all that would have been required to sate both those who have and don't have the Yearbook seems to be distinctly different packaging. A different color to the yearbook, even, and the logo on the cover instead of the foil stamp. The various double-dips Anchor Bay does on its LEs are never identical, and I as a collector still seek out the initial versions while the general public can be sated with The Boomstick Edition or whatever.

I never bought it but I was a pretty big fan of the show. The reason I never got it was because I didn't even know about it until it had been available for a while and since it was limited edition yet still available months later, I assumed I could wait until I had the money to spend on it. Just because I didn't buy it on day one doesn't mean I'm not a fan. It really wasn't all that long ago that it became unavailable. Does anyone know exactly when it went OOP?

The normal 6 disc set has been in-print every since.

i really do not understand the the derision directed at opponents of shout! factory's decision to reprint this set. as has been noted many times, the 6 disc set, which contains the entire series, is still available and has been available since its release (if i am not mistaken). those that purchased the yearbook, spent about $70- 80 more than the cost of the 6 disc set to purchase something that was advertised to be limited.
as a fan of the series, i would be more than happy to point those that have not watched it to buy it from numerous sources (such as amazon or best buy).

It is amazing how pissed off you people are. Personally I feel you people are pissed because the option of selling it on ebay has now been sent down the drain. I mean if everything is the same which they are saying including price then, why be pissed? I mean there were obviously more then 25,000 Freaks and Geeks fans when it aired. Personally I watched Freaks and Geeks from the first day it aired to the last day. The reason I didn't get the original set was like others I read because I wasn't buying dvds like that and I never even heard of the set until about 2 years later. So just deal with it and be mad that you didn't sell your set on ebay when you had the chance.

Nice, incoherent rant.
I think people whom are upset CAN be justified here. And some of those people have already offered the justification above.

I just can't believe how everyone is angry that a company didn't keep it's word on something being "Limited Edition". Please show me examples of a DVD that the company stated was going to be "Limited" and actually turned out that way.
Okay, Disney is a good example. But that's all.

Did you ever hear me say I never had the 6 disc set? Just so you know I do own the six disc set but when I bought it I really wished I had the chance for the yearbook edition so now is the time.

Sweet I didn't even know this was special. I picked up the yearbook release at a store that sells used games and movies for 45 bucks about 6 months ago. Surprised they didn't know how much they were worth before they sold it for that. I think mines all together from reading that description.

"Limited" is one thing. Everything is limited. Maybe to 9 million, but there's a limit.
Saying "There will ONLY EVER be 25k, when these are done, we are throwing away the template, we want this to be special for the fans" is a little more firm than using the marketing buzzword of "limited" or "collector's" or "special". Even other more mainstream titles where they release numbered versions, reprints are a little different because it's not the numbered edition, and not a 'first print'.
Basically this reinforces that either everyone's a sellout, or no one can sign a contract where they totally control their material.
Honestly, if they printed 10 million yearbooks, I wouldn't have bought one. Not that I wanted to profit off it, but that part of the value of it in my eyes is its specialness/limited issue.

By the way, stores like that typically don't sell things based on their OOP worth. The most popular used dvd/cd store here never does. They base the used price always on the original MSRP or what they find reasonable for a 6 disc set of a television show.
If one became available locally, I imagine it would be in the range of $45-$55 or basically what you paid.
I'm grateful to be getting another shot at this. Just never liked things that don't fit nicely on my dvd shelving. Passed on the Gilmore Girls stupid looking doll house set (wanted it for the incredible picture book included) and the pink Sex and the City set for that reason. Can't pass on this.

Yes, it's pretty much the size of a real yearbook (though not as thick, maybe 3/4 inch thick.) It's around 8.5x11, I'd say. It does not fit on my regular DVD racks, I've actually got it on my bookshelf with my actual yearbooks.

Freaks and Geeks Yearbook Re-release delayed 1 month.
I thought I would bump this since it was the most recent thread posted in and so that people can spend the $125 on something else that week, say gas?

As MTR mentioned, gas has been going down in general. Though $3.22 isn't anything to get excited about it was better than the high $4 range we were at not too long ago.
I'm buying two copies of the yearbook when it's out, so it'll be nice to know when I'll be sacrificing $250+ from my bank account.
