4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days

I was wondering if any of you are planning to get this movie, which is apparently being released tomorrow (6-17-08). It's a Romanian movie that got amazing reviews early this year (95% at rottentomatoes.com).

It's funny, I can't seem to find it on many sites. Amazon doesn't even list the price, and it's nowhere to be found on bestbuy.com or any of my other regulars. It IS coming out tomorrow, right?

yes, it is

it's a very good movie, although it's one of those movies you only really need to see once (IMO)

Yeah, this is one tough movie. I am so glad I saw it, but one viewing was more than enough for me.

This was my favorite film shown last year at the European Union Film Showcase at the AFI Silver. An outstanding film. I'll definitely be picking up the DVD at some point, but haven't ordered it yet. A full DVD review from Phil Bacharach should be up on DVDTalk very soon.

I actually picked up the UK disc and am very, very pleased with it. It has a lot of extras I doubt it will make it to the US disc. The transfer is absolutely fabulous.

Netflix had this available last week and I rented it from them and watched it Saturday night. It really won me over. It was slow and the shots went on for 5 or 10 minutes sometimes but the acting was great and the story was told in such a way I couldn't help but feel involved.

Another Romanian movie to add to my list alongside Moartea domnului Lăzărescu.

Also watched this from Netflix over the weekend. Very bleak but well done. I noticed time flew during this one, especially the first half as the tension is building.

I'm eager to see if the U.S. version has any extras. Sometimes I feel it's refreshing to see such a bleak film.

Seeing this 3 months or so ago, it has never left my mind. Damn good film.

^(The extras on the DVD totaled about 40 minutes long.)
There was a making of and two interviews I believe.

The movie is fucking awesome. I actually think it bears rewatching, because there's some subtleties regarding the relationship between the two female leads that, IMO, express the director's views on the relationship between the individual and the state in Ceausescu and post-Ceausescu Romania.

As of now, the only place I've seen that actually sells it is Borders.

IFC appears to have recalled the DVD after accidentally releasing the film in the wrong aspect ratio. Visit DVDBeaver for more details.

According to the Borders website, this disc is a Borders exclusive.

Very good movie, but I have to agree about only wanting to see it once.

My copy is 1.78:1 by the way.

Same here.

Though some of suitableness in the movie may need the 2nd viewing to figure them out.
