Anybody own the "Essential Classics: Drama" set? (Kane/Maltese/BenHur)
I noticed that this set under DDD's current 20% off sale would cost a meager $15.44, an incredible price given the quality of the films.
I'm asking about the quality of the boxset, however. I already own the excessive 4-disc set for Ben-Hur and I own the old crappy release of Maltese Falcon from 2000. I'm confident the new transfer here will be improved, and I'm guilty of not owning Citizen Kane so buying this set would be obviously be an upgrade there, too. And this set appears to contain more-than-bare-bones special features... four commentaries including Ebert's on Kane.
I'm skeptic about the transfer of Ben-Hur in this set, if it's the same as the transfer from the 4-disc SE or not. I've looked around on review sites and haven't really been able to tell, can anybody who owns this set offer anecdotal advice about it? I was thinking of buying it and sell my 4-discer for BH to make up the cost...

I already said it didn't answer my question and that I'm looking for additional anecdotal advice.
His review doesn't indicate if it's the 2001 transfer, the 2005 transfer, or a completely different transfer.
And his comment about the aspect ratio being between 2.4 and 2.7 baffles me because the movie has always been listed at 2.75 even though there is clear cropping in the 2001 transfer if you compare it to the 2005 transfer (consult DVDBeaver). Which further makes me wonder if this boxset transfer is cropped or not?
