I don't have the original, and I've been meaning to pick it up... So I'll probably end up buying this. Although I certainly agree that this is a pretty terrible special edition.

Here's hoping they at least did a restoration.

Sony calls the new version of So I Married An Axe Murderer a "special edition" and its got nothing on it.

Now Warner calls this a "deluxe ediiton" and all we get are three 22min cartoons?!

My thoughts exactly. I've waited a long time to buy this film, and as crappy a release as it is, I don't feel like waiting another 11 years for a better one.

Jesus Fucking Christ. I've been waiting so long I no longer want it.

Honestly, if they just do a new anamorphic transfer, that's enough. Sure, "special edition" is a complete crock, but this film has needed anamorphic for too goddamn long.

I've been waiting years for this release, and the best they can come up with is 3 cartoon episodes???

You gotta be f'n kidding me!

If the transfer is great, i'll pick up the Blu-Ray, but I am very disappointed.

The original DVD is anamorphic. Can't say it looks all that good but its definitely anamorphic.

Been wanting to add this to my collection, so I'll probably pick it up. But god damn! Whoever designed this 'Special Edition' needs a good bitch-slapping.

I actually liked the cartoon. But quit dicking around and release a proper box set!

Next time somebody praises Warner Brothers for their exemplary work in DVD, you can slap them in the face with a copy of Beetlejuice.

Seriously, Warner, this is really *bad* form.

Eh, I'll probably get it for the movie.

I never liked the cartoon, though.

I love how everyone just goes nuts when a DVD release is not up to their standards.

It has nothing to do with standards.

It's labeled "Special Edition" and there's hardly anything special about it. Call it what it is. A DVD re-release with a new transfer.

Poltergeist got similar treatment. WB blows these days with these much desired re-releases...

Yeah, this isn't "special" enough to get me to buy another DVD copy, but I'll probably upgrade to the Blu-ray when I finally get a player.

I'll most likely be picking this up since I don't have the previous edition on DVD. It would be nice if they'd quit slapping random episodes of a related TV show on a movie DVD though and release actual season sets.

Seriously? If you find an o-sleeve to be "special" then you must shit the bed when they announce things like: commentary you've been waiting forever for, behind-the-scenes footage we've never included, deleted scenes we know you want and anything other than 3 cartoon episodes included in this special edition.

This. Edition. Sucks.

I defy anyone to prove differently. The specs speak for themselves, and they suck.

Pretty disappointing specs for a re-release that I have awaited for years. I got Beetlejuice way back when DVD was still just a baby, around 1997-1998. I remember it was the title I sent off for with the free DVD offer inside the player. Anyway, the old disc IS anamorphic but does look pretty bad, as someone else mentioned. I'll definitely go with the Blu-ray, assuming WB at least cleans up the film, but it is quite strange that a Tim Burton release like this one would go out with so little.

Wow. Just Wow. This is my #1 DVD re-release that I have been waiting for. I'm hoping they are doing this 20th Anniversary Edition just for an excuse to get it out on Blu-Ray.

I guess I'll just keep my original DVD and catch it on HDNet Movies until they get a proper special edition release.

Warner has been sucking lately with their re-released Special Editions and lame Deluxe Editions. What the fuck are they doing over there now, did they hire some of Universal's monkeys?

I just picked up the disc for $6, and I haven't seen that bad a transfer in a while. Not an anamorphic one anyway.

I figured for $6 it's worth it in case (which is probably a done deal) they dropped the isolated score for the new version.
