I never got to see this one in theaters, so I'll probably blind buy despite some of the negative things I've read about it.

Also, I need the footage for a Romero Zombie video montage I'm working on.

Both films include 90 minute documentaries.

The NOTLD one could be pretty good if done right. Diary... ummmmm...

The sad thing is that if Romero hadn't written such an overly preachy script about the numbing effect of ubiquitous media, he could have made another classic zombie movie because parts of Diary were excellent. I would much rather have seen a movie starring the black men in the warehouse and the rogue cops, instead of the annoying college kids; in the light of the recent hysteria over Jeremiah Wright and yesterday's release of John Yoo's torture memo, the unresolved question of racial bias and public apathy toward the disintegration of civil liberties would make more suitable topics for George's pulpit than the suckiness of Youtube. George Romero is the Jonathan Swift of zombie movies, in that he uses the conventions of the genre to comment satirically on contemporary society.

And the defibrillator kill is awesome.

Yeah, just the book, and a different cover on the outer box. No sleeve on the DVD, though.

K-Mart has an exclusive 2-pack of "Diary" with Night" for $24.99.

Now I'm torn. Do I really want the "Zen..." book?

It was the new NOTLD release. I own the Millenium Edition, but if the new special features are any good, I'll get this one too.

Anyone get the new NOTLD yet that can atest to this?

I stopped by my closest Best Buy after work and they were sold out of the deluxe edition. I was then going to order it online, but free shipping wasn't offered for the DVD (like it was for the CD I was also ordering). I'm not going to drive all over town to get it; I'll just go to the nearby Circuit City for it this evening.

It'd be one thing if this was truly an exclusive book, but it's been out for 6 months:

http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Zombie-Bet...1322517&sr=1-1

I have enough in my reading pile to keep me occupied for quite some time and I wouldn't get to this book for a while anyway. I'm sure if I bide my time, I can find an even cheaper copy on ebay or Amazon Marketplace than what's on there now..

I went to 2 best buys here and neither had the one with the book. Thanks for the amazon link to the book DJLinus, that was my next stop.

That kmart deal sounds good.

After reading this, I figured I'd give it a shot as well. I walked in, ad in hand, wearing my Fulci "Zombie" shirt. I grabbed the last one on the shelf. I didn't see any displayed anywhere else. I went up to the register & the cashier was obviously admiring my shirt as I was walking up to him. I thought, awesome, this dude is gonna let me get this deal. I was wrong. He pointed out that the one advertised at Circuit City is for the standard edition. I acted as if I didn't know there was a difference. In the end, I paid $19.99 for it. I didn't want to risk passing on it & then having a difficult time locating it again later. He was doing his job & he did it right. Paying $13.99 would've been nice, but you can't win them all.

My Best Buy had 4 left in the Horror section. The New Release shelves only had the "standard" edition.
