Was there a pressing flaw in the Criterion 'Mala Noche'?

Copies of this were everywhere here for about a week, and then they disappeared off store shelves, only to reappear about a month later. Was there some kind of a recall (and, of there was, is there any way to identify the correct version from the cover?) or was this just a distribution glitch?

I could have sworn I heard something about this somewhere, but I don't see anything on Criterion's website.

There was indeed a problem with the initial pressing. A brief series of images roughly 22 minutes into the film that were intended to be in color were mistakenly in black-and-white.

If you already have the disc with the error, it can be returned to Criterion for an exchange, and according to this blog posting you'll also receive a $10 gift certificate to their store. Alternately, any new pressings in store should have a sticker on the cover (front or back) denoting it as such.
