Why No Widescreen for 101 Dalmatians Platinum?

I know one of the documentaries in this set said widescreen was not the intended aspect ratio, but it did mention that there are some widescreen prints out there. So why not offer a viewing choice to consumers? I know some people only want OAR, but if Disney is willing to offer viewers a choice in audio (an enhanced theater mix vs. the original soundtrack), then why not offer them a viewing choice as well? I doubt a 5.1 surround mix was the intended choice of the filmakers back in the 1960s, but I'm glad Disney put it on this release.
