Reissue of "The Idolmaker"?

I was watching a DVD I bought a while back of "The Idolmaker," and it was pan-and-scan with a terrible transfer. According to information online, it was once on laserdisc in widescreen, with a Taylor Hackford commentary. I maybe understand why the commentary was deleted to save money, but why such a bad non-widescreen picture? This movie has something of a cult following after being shown for many years on cable stations. It has a brilliant performance by the late, great Ray Sharkey, fun production numbers with Peter Gallagher, and a small role by cult actor Joe Pantoliano. I think it could sell reasonably well with a rerelease, and the widescreen print must be out there somewhere. Is there any word if this will ever be reissued with a decent picture quality?

Your final question mark should have been in the thread title since you are asking a question.

I added the question mark, sorry. I was so disappointed with the picture quality. It almost looks like a duplicate of a faded VHS tape. It deserves better.
