I might finally pick this up! Thanks for the tip.

TylerDurden_73 03-06-08 01:21 PM

will definitly get wargames. Been waiting awhile for that one.

TheMovieman 03-06-08 01:24 PM

Almost bought WG at Wal Mart the other day... glad I didn't now.

matome 03-06-08 01:46 PM

Sweet, assuming the original one will now be anamorphic I'll be grabbing it.

Yeah, the specs don't say - but I'm assuming it will be too...decent price for a 2-disc release.

Sean O'Hara 03-06-08 03:28 PM

If it doesn't include a copy of Global Thermonuclear War, no sale.

thursdaynighter 03-06-08 05:16 PM

I'm sure it'll be 16x9. It's gotta be...please!

"Would you like to play a game?"

This would be a title I would be happy to double dip on. Can't wait!

djones6746 03-06-08 08:53 PM

It is about time...holy crap. Most dvds have been re-released upteen times....Wargames is finally coming out in an anamorphic transfer? :)

What is the price, $20 MSRP?

basaro 03-06-08 09:10 PM

Stupid MGM doesn't say anymore, but anamorphic Wargames I assume. It's about time, I'm all over this. Will pass on the cheese-quel though ;)

Thanks for posting OP

EdTheRipper 03-06-08 09:11 PM

I'll most likely spring for the double dip and just give the sequel a rent.

TheDuke 03-06-08 09:21 PM

I've held out on this one for awhile. I'll be sure to pick it up.

Mr.Briggs 03-06-08 09:44 PM

Dvdempire has it up for preorder. Retail $14.98 their price $10.49. Awesome. My copy of the original release is still sealed and will be going back to the store tomorrow.

DTV sequel has a retail of $26.98 & a preorder price of $19.26. PASS

Rubix 03-06-08 11:07 PM

awesome! why do studios always have to make their own inferior covers though? use the poster art!

CertifiedTHX 03-07-08 04:18 PM

Can't say I'm disappointed by the cover art. It actually works for me. When you think of some of the truly horrible re-release artwork out there (Groundhog Day), this is perfectly acceptable. This and The Manhattan Project compliment each other very well. Tempted to pick up all three, but would need to know if the WarGames sequel is any good.

This needs to be followed by Electric Dreams, another computer geek movie from the early days of the PC.

theguyoverthere 03-07-08 09:20 PM

As long as this is 16:9, I will be all over this re-release. Pity a 16:9 SD release of "Short Circuit" doesn't seem to be in the cards...

/guess I'll pick that one up in a couple years once Blu player prices go down...
//will stick with my 2000-era SE DVD.
///and yes, I am a cheap bastard.

Wish they had ponied up for a new commentary (Broderick/Sheedy/Coleman would have been nice), but this is long overdue. Crappy cover, to no one's surprise.

THIS CORN IS RAW!!!!!!

Joel Goodsen 03-08-08 03:56 AM

Always good to see a classic 80s movie getting a SE release. Definately a buy for me.

Rubix 03-08-08 06:35 AM

the background of the cover looks like it used a screencap from defcon, which is a game that was inspired by wargames. the game in the movie doesn't have those little radioactive circle things. anyway, it's a pretty cool game.
