Anamorphic Buena Vista DVDs?

I've noticed that a lot of DVDs under the Disney umbrella (BV, Mirimax, etc.) have yet to be released in anamorphic widescreen! Any info on any of the following titles having upcoming (or already released but unknown to me!) anamorphic widescreen releases would be appreciated.

Good Will Hunting
Armageddon
From Dusk Till Dawn
Life is Beautiful
The Nightmare before Christmas.

Thanks everyone!

I wish they would re-release Armageddon in 16x9 w/ all the same extras as the CC so i can get rid of it. Still waiting for a 16x9 copy of Rocketeer and Nightmare before Xmas. I mean, they re-release it in theatres in 3D, why not on DVD again or even BD? Maybe this year finally...?

Lots of people seem to think that, but it's not.

Buena Vista has indeed neglected many of their early DVD releases, never getting them upgraded to 16 X 9. A shame.

There was a Canadian DVD release of Good Will Hunting with an anamorphic transfer. I'm not sure if it's still in print, though.

Isn't it the OAR? I am waiting for From Dusk til Dawn on Blu-ray.

If it's the animated 101 Dalmatians you're talking about, it's Disney's stance that 1.33:1 is the OAR.

I suspect we'll get a new special edition of TNBC one of these years (for both formats). They're probably just trying to milk the theatrical releases for a few years first.

There are TONS more old Buena Vista/Miramax/Touchstone US dvds out there that still have not been upgraded to anamorphic discs. I absolutely hate them. Ones I'm waiting for: Nightwatch (remake with Ewan McGregor), Exotica (Atom Egoyan film), Hand that Rocks the Cradle...and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. I imported 16:9 versions of The Rocketeer (which sadly, looks worse than the non-anamorphic picture), From Dusk Til Dawn, Beautiful Girls, and Armageddon, but I'm done doing that, and just hoping Blu-Ray will bring new and better transfers of stuff.

^ Three Men and a Baby, Playing by Heart are a couple others in my collection. The first one really needs a SE IMO...

Isn't Ransom non-anamorphic? I seem to remember a lot of people being pissed about that.

It's a controversial question. The film was animated at 1.37:1, but matted to widescreen in theaters. Disney claims that it was intended to be a 4:3 production and the decision to matte was made after-the-fact.

^Me neither.

BTW, Three Men and a Baby is anamorphic. I believe it's just labeled "widescreen" on the case, but it is anamorphic.

As for BD bringing new transfers, I'm not sure it will speed things up. Disney hasn't been releasing many catalog titles at all on BD. There was a period last year where they went more than 5 months without releasing any catalog titles. (However, that was probably due to the AACS crack and they were waiting for BD+.) Also, they have mostly focused on mainstream movies that were moderate to big hits, so I certainly wouldn't expect Exotica or Nightwatch any time soon.

I'm still waiting on a decent edition of Quiz Show, which has one of the worst transfers out there.

"Fans will also be pleased to hear the A Nightmare Before Christmas has just entered the production pipeline at Disney, so look for that animated jewel sometime in the middle to fall of next year."

This was from October so plans could have changed....
