The money it cost to place that ad in trade magazines probably cost more then the film's budget.

OK ... it's set in present day, but humanity is living underground ... ??? Did somebody forget to tell me something?

Next:Tron? Really? They had to reach back that far for Bruce Boxleitner's credits?

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

I just saw something quite funny in the News section of their website:

We’re Moving!
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 @ 10:58 pm | News, Other

We’ve decided to use some of the billions of dollars we’ve made ripping people off to move to a brand new production facility in The Valley.

Effective July 1, 2009 The Asylum will be located in Burbank, California.

As much as we’ll miss the glamour of Hollywood (the traffic, the monthly drug raids in the parking lot, the transvestite prostitutes…), we’re very excited because we’re getting more than twice the space for about the same amount of rent.

So, starting tomorrow please send all hate mail and lawsuits here.

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

Thats a surprise, the Asylum are now releasing tittles on blu-ray. I'm going to assume that in terms of quality the difference wouldn't be all that big compared to the DVD release considering the Asylum properly use poor HD transfer sources..

Well, i'm glad to hear that at least they admit they are a shitty movie company rather then defend the rip offs they produce.

They gain some points for self-deprecating humor.

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

someone liked the shark movie (kinda) http://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/...t-octopus-2009

This review is even better http://roberthood.net/blog/index.php...giant-octopus/

"It is neither ground-breaking nor destined for cinematic greatness, but for fans of low-budget monster films it is certainly worth 90 minutes of your time — and it may very well become a cult classic. Hey, you might even watch it more than once!"

That's the most positive comments I have ever read about one of these films. I will say that the trailer is excellent...had me smiling..

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus falls under the "Godzilla clause".

Which is.....as long as you deliver two monsters fighting, the rest of the movie can pretty much be ignored.

Does Debbie Gibson's acting talent matter when there is a giant shark and octopus fighting to death? No.

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

The Asylum is getting slow, a Land of the Lost rip-off a month late and they also have the late to the game The Haunting of Winchester Place coming out in a few months

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

That's actually a remake. The cover may be vaguely Land of the Lost, but the movie is ripped off something completely different.

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

I was wondering where C. Thomas Howell had gone since Soul Man and after a quick check to imdb, looks like he's been Asylum's poster boy for a while now.

I own almost all of these mockbusters and eagerly anticipate each new one they announce.

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

I own Alien vs. Hunter, and from past rentals have seen Transmorphers, Allan Quatermain and the Temple of Skulls and Snakes on a Train. Every mockbustor Ive seen has its very own unique charm then again, Ive always been a fan of B-grade, low budget sci-fi/horror flicks..

That offer (posted years ago, by the way) was from the director of Transmorphers. Matthew was just transcribing it.

Some of this stuff is brilliant. Do these have that bad movie of the week vibe? Are they worth it for a good laugh? I've seen some of these in the Walmart bargain bins and have been tempted to pick some up.

Yesterday Scy Fy was showing War of the Worlds 2, with Howell!

Re: ASYLUM DVDs - Dont they get sued?

I've seen bits and pieces of their films on Sci-Fi and they all seemed to be filmed in the same location...some random field with mountains in the background.
