How many and what date was your biggest purchase day ever?

So some DVD collection sites you are able to sort by purchase date and i got to thinking what my biggest purchase day was since i've had a couple recently. I buy most on release day so that sort works accurately for me too.

so 12/18/07 was my biggest in a long while with 7 releases:
"Evil Dead" (UE)
"Blade Runner" (LE)
"Alpha Dog"
"The Simpsons Movie"
"Hatchet" (BB Set)
"Halloween" (Lenticular)
"Braveheart" (SCE)

So what was your biggest purchase day...how many and what date?
**listing titles is optional, but might be more fun**

i belive black friday 2006 was one of my biggest purchase dates ever. i don't recall how many titles total, would have to look up my receipt or something, but i remember getting at least 15-20 titles, and my total was somewhere around $400, which is pretty high considering how low some of those discs are priced. i can only remember these right off the top my head:

entourage s1
entourage s2
inside man
monster house
house s2
pride and prejudice

now i'm curious to find out exactly what i got...

Groucho 01-14-08 04:13 PM

Tomorrow, actually. I'm planning to go around and pick up as many collector's editions of Blue Harvest as possible. These should go for a nice sum on ebay down the line.

12-26-2007 - X Files Ultimate Edition

Drexl 01-14-08 04:31 PM

I never buy more than 2 or 3 at a time, usually just 1 except for bundling to get free shipping, so I don't know what my biggest day was. I could sort by release date, but that obviously wouldn't work because it would show titles I bought later. (I don't track when I bought something.)

Rammsteinfan 01-14-08 05:03 PM

12/18 was probably mine too. About 7 titles purchased that day.

Numes 01-14-08 05:03 PM

hmmm.

bought all the twilight zones old release in regular keep cases at a pawn shop back in 2001, for $150- there was 40+ discs.

on feb 3 2003, i bought around 14 copies of ED Wood, as my Best Buy was one of a few stores to sell them on release day.

another pawn shop i go to, has 10 dvd's for $25, and i buy 10 from there, every couple of months.

I think I spent about $400 on anime one day. Possibly both Trigun limited edition tin sets, and other series sets.

JJE-187 01-14-08 05:49 PM

I bought like 75 DVDs from a MG closeout sell for about $125

Thankfully my days of collecting Korean imports and limited editions are mostly over ... "75 DVDs for about $125" .. quoting the poster above. I can only wish.

Probably years ago when I first learned about Columbia House. I probably opened half a dozen accounts using several family members addresses that day.

Quantity: Three way tie
8/4/07, 7/31/07, 10/17/06.
Those were my purchase dates for the TRSI 25-for-100 deals.
Dollars:
either 4/13/04 when I bought 13 volume of Cardcaptor Sakura in a bundle from TRSI which at the time was a very good price, or, 7/26/07, my DDD 20% order with
Red Dwarf Complete
Twilight Zone Complete
Justice League S3 S4
Droopy
Sliders S1-S3

Forgive my ignorance.

TRSI?

25-for-100? 25 DVDs for $100?

Tscott 01-14-08 09:27 PM

Most likely 11/18/06 ordered during a DDD sale:

THE WIRE-1ST SEASON
THE WIRE-2ND SEASON
THE WIRE-3RD SEASON
L WORD-1ST SEASON
L WORD-2ND SEASON
L WORD-3RD SEASON
THE COMEBACK-1ST SEASON

7 seasons of TV shows.

asianxcore 01-14-08 11:58 PM

7/24/04:
The Usual Suspects
Phantasm
Predator: 2 Disc Special Edition
Kill Chiba Collection
Requiem For Dream
American Beauty
Evil Dead Trap
Phenomena
Nosferatu
Don't Torture A Duckling

Most of them were used, minus the "Kill Chiba Collection". The total of the entire purchase was probably around $120-125 or so.

The Monkees 01-15-08 12:48 AM

Buying for myself, August 20, 2002 was a huge day
-Pulp Fiction CE
-Jackie Brown CE
-Sleepaway Camp (now recalled box set)
-Gremlins SE
-Gremlins 2 SE

That doesn't seem like much, but it was a lot for me.

Recently I just bought
-Seed of Chucky HD
-Resident Evil BD
-Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2
-Prom Night 3 / 4
-Phantasm Box Set (from UK)
-Wrestlemania Anthology Vol. 1

Pretty much all on the same day averaging out to about: $119 only...not bad.

JHBulls 01-15-08 01:54 AM

In terms of $$$ i bought Looney Tunes Golden Collection volume 1-3 for $45-50 each on July 30th, 2006 from Amazon.

I don't know the exact date, but August of 07:

That 70's Show Seasons 1-6
24 Seasons 1-5
The X-Files Seasons 4-9

They had a sale where each season was on sale for only $19.99 (Best Buy). I ended up spending close to $370 that day.

matome 01-15-08 09:24 AM

I believe, the last DDD sale. On 11/14 I received 25 DVD/Blu-Ray for $508.

The Bus 01-15-08 09:29 AM

A DDD sale a few years ago. It was such a big order I still haven't seen some of those movies. I think the order was for ~$600, and a lot of the titles were <$5.

islandclaws 01-15-08 10:27 AM

20% off sale DVD Planet, bough quite a few including the M*A*S*H: Martini's and Medicine Collection. Total came to somewhere around $250. I felt nauseous afterwards.
