I too wish this would have come out in a directors cut version. I bet that will happen later on and cause for the double dip.

I wasn't. It's extremely annoying and seems to happen in all these modern day horror movies ("28 Days Later", "30 Days Of Night", "Feast", etc...). Looks horrible! I can't believe they would do that intentionally.

Haven't you ever seen the beginning of Saving Private Ryan?

It is indeed intentional to create the feeling of chaos, It's done by increasing the shutter on the camera.
