Too bad, then I have to settle for the single disc just so I can watch the film.

I haven't looked at stores, but I noticed it was nowhere to be found in Movie Gallery when I went to rent it this past week.

^yeah i am really pissed off its been at the top of my Netflix list since its release and I went to get it at Movie Gallery with a coupon i had for a free rental and no luck. I even asked if they had it or were planning on getting it and they said no. I can't belive some of the shit they have (and the number of copies of the shit) and not a single sopy of this film. No wonder they are going out of business.

Interesting... I ordered it through CH and had it two days after release. My local mom and pop has about 10 copies for rent.

Fantastic film. So far, it's somewhere in my top 5 for 2007...

I've seen plenty at Best Buy, but not really anything elsewhere like Target or CC the other day.

I was looking over DVDActive and found this coming at the end of this month:

Any word on this coming to R1?

Here is the Amazon.co.uk listing:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Assassinatio...5283571&sr=8-2

And on there it says:

- A hard-back premium packaging with a 44-page book all about the film, the legend and the characters
- A bonus disc featuring the documentary Death of An Outlaw that examines the life and death of the real Jesse James and includes interviews with all the key cast and filmmakers
Here is a very short video clip of what the set looks like:

A must-buy for me if it makes its way to R1.

This is why I haven't bought it yet, I'm sure something else has to come out for it eventually.

i'll buy the R2 UK set at some point but this isn't a REAL SE...isn't a director's cut supposed to be released on R1?

Yeah, a two-disc set with no extras beyond a half-hour documentary (which isn't that great to begin with -- it's already on the R1 HD releases) barely justifies its own existence. Maybe the booklet is really, really, really good.

As for a director's cut, I haven't seen anything about that -- Dominik says he did several different versions, but he was happy with what actually got released. The studio tried to remove him from the project, but none of the other guys they brought in could do anything with the footage. So the current DVD is a director's cut.

It is slow, but not "painfully" slow. I think 'Assassination' moved at a perfect pace for the film that it was. I thought it was a masterpiece, and Brad Pitt put on a hauntingly good performance as Jesse James.

I didn't expect to like it that much either, and I thought it would just be "OK" at best. Boy was I in for a treat. Definitely one of, if not the best film of 2007.

Yeah, I'm gonna give it another try via Netflix. The thing is I immeadiatley heard that voice over which totally reminded me of Magnolia. That along with the trodding opening killed it for me. But on all the recommendations I know I'd be a fool not to finish it.

Just saw it, fantastic. My third favorite film of 2007. Casey Affleck shined.
