Guys, just relax. I wasn't mad when I heard Yazuka's comment on my movies, but just baffled because I didn't know some people took collections that seriously. By you responding what yazuka writes (which is has the right since we asked for it) your just adding fuel to the fire.

slymer 11-29-07 11:43 AM

Ya, I don't really understand the hostility towards Yakuza Bengoshi. He just gave his opinion like THFM asked. If he thinks the guys DVD collection sucks, than he should say it sucks. Nothing personal.

My DVD collection on the otherhand is pretty much flawless.

islandclaws 11-29-07 12:13 PM

I'm not hostile, just having fun with the guy. I don't take it any more seriously than anyone should. He's obviously got a specific taste in film and, since most of his titles are great films, I can't fault him for it. I just think he needs to loosen up a bit. He seems a little stuffy.

And, no, I'm not pleased Yakuza. You're still taking me a little too seriously. At least your responses were quasi-sarcastic, yet still relatively witless. Lighten up, my man. It's all in good fun.

Agreed!

Yakuza Bengoshi 11-29-07 12:38 PM

Funny, the expressions on Ben Cronin's (Jesse Bradford) and Lola's (Franka Potente) faces would make a great two shot. Maybe Ms. Potente should have played the role of Ben's girlfriend, Amy Miller.

In arranging those images I would have have put Craig Jones (Ice Cube) and Smokey on the left. Thus drawing our attention to, and preconditioning our response to, the tension in the upcoming images provoked by Ben's infidelity to Amy with Madison Bell (Erika Christensen):

Stuffy is how I roll. Don't try to impose your take-it-mellow ways on me.

I swear I'm really not taking anything you say seriously.

Unless you're toking because of your hand condition, I would seriously recommend cutting back because your thinking is muddled. First, you couldn't remember what this thread was about and now you're complaining because my post was witless when that was exactly what you requested. Not only was I giving you exactly what you asked for, I even sign posted it, hence the [semi-sarcastic witless response] post [/semi-sarcastic witless response] bracketing. Seriously, ease off the pipe, or at least stop operating machinery.

Lighten up, my man.
Dude, you should totally check out my last response to JLBkret on page 1, post 12 of this thread.

It's all in good fun.
Totally.

slymer 11-29-07 01:34 PM

Mock me all you want. Funny how you overlook classics such as Disturbing Behavior and Man-Thing.

Just because your bracket says [semi-sarcastic witless response] that don't make it so. And be stuffy all you want, I'm not imposing anything. My kind needs your kind to balnace the universe.

And I'm amazed at how well you know my smoking habits. I guess you'd find it hard to believe then that I even find time to smoke between 40 hour work weeks, Astronomy lectures and labs and 5 days in the gym. And rebutting your posts on here.

Yakuza, regardless of how little you like my collection, you're alright. But I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that.

It's funny to me that you can't see how twisted that logic is.

Thanks, man. You keep on truckin' too.

Between? I'd have guessed during. Oh, and that you're a star-gazer surprises me not at all.

No, but it never hurts to hear. Peace, bro.

A note about my collection: I have very ecclectic tastes in movies, but I still consider my taste "good." Some people, however, will probably be turned off for my guilty pleasure of cheesy zombie movies. But don't worry, there are plenty of Criterions and the like in there too :)

Don't take this the wrong way, as I think your collection is decent (granted, there's a lot of stuff in there I don't agree with, but I'm not the one buying your movies). But based on what you have, your tastes are nowhere near eclectic, and it pretty much resembles something a current college student with a slightly above-average interest in film (read: goes to the arthouse theater once a month or every other month) would have, with a bit of emphasis on horror and well-known cult movies.

^These were the best of the bunch, but the whole thing was funny.

I was afraid it was just me that came to these conclusions. The Criterion Collection DVDs are filled with all the usual suspects with the exception of Chasing Amy, and everything else pretty much falls within the parameters of GreenVulture's post.

You should rate this guy's collection.

Is there any fast way to put all my DVDs in my DVD Aficionado list? It's going to take me days!

racefan 11-30-07 12:11 AM

My movie collection.

If your collection doesn't mirror mine, it's crap.

Sure. Engage the services of a data entry worker.

I don't like any of those titles, so F minus to you too sir.

That's fairly accurate, actually. I suppose eclectic is the wrong word.

Pretty solid collection there, while I disagree with some ratings you gave. So I'd rate this somewhere around A- B+ ;)

frenzal rhomb,
