Greatest Release Day Ever?

What do you guys think of today's releases? DVDBeaver called it the greatest DVD release day. We got 2 of the best Criterion releases of the year in Breathless and Days of Heaven. We got all new Kubricks including High Definition releases. Lindsay Anderson fans saw O Lucky Man! hit DVD in a double disc set for the first time ever.

Eh. Not interested in the Criterions, can't find the Kubrics and don't have HD. I've had better.

Mentioned in Rogue's thread that "This is probably the greatest release day since 9/7/2004".

What came out then, Star Wars? I don't remember.

I'm not buying any of today's new releases, so I'll have to go with "no".

It is indeed a great bunch of releases scheduled for today.

If more than a handful of Kubrick sets were actually available, I would be more enthusiastic.

I will have to console myself with Days of Heaven.

Popcorn, you might want to edit your post to read O Lucky Man! I don't think Anderson ever made a prequel...

Incidentally, is there any connection between the movies If... and O Lucky Man! (other than both star McDowell and both were directed by Anderson)? I saw If... a long time ago and liked it, but I have never seen O Lucky Man!

Only interested in one release coming out today, so No this is not the greatest release day ever. Pretty mediocre actually.

There have been many that were a lot better, but it all depends on what you're a fan of. For me 9/11/07 was a monumental day because I'm such a horror nut and that day was LOADED with titles I've been waiting for.

I haven't seen any of these, but McDowell plays the same character in both (as well as in Britannia Hospital) and I think that O Lucky Man! is a kind of sequel to If .... but each film can be seen by itself.

Since I have no memory of specific release dates for previous titles, then I will say yes.

Of course, for my tastes, it was memorable:

Clerks X
Hitchcock-Signature Collection
Dawn of the Dead (UE)
(Waters) Desperate Living/Pink Flamingos

It's a trilogy, right? With Britannia Hospital being the final act?

Milestone's I Am Cuba: Ultimate Edition also is out today (or supposed to be; I've seen no reviews and online sites don't seem to have it in stock). Plus there's the Kino Battleship Potemkin package, Criterion's Under the Volcano, and the Burt Lancaster Signature Collection. For art house enthusiasts, I'd say today might indeed be the best we've seen.

This was easily the best release week of the year for me. The only other release date that I am really looking forward to for the rest of the year is November 13th (Berlin Alexanderplatz.)

If today is the greatest release day nobody decided to tell retailers. I couldn't find the Kubrick Box or Criterions today. More and more, retailers these days aren't stocking stuff on release day.

Best relase day, 10/21/03 (Indiana Jones day)

I got Meet The Robinsons & The Shining 25AE so I voted no. Nothing really special (except that according to dvdspot The Shining is dvd # 666 for me, with 743 titles). Hope it's not a Bad OMEN!

I wasn't sure if I would find this at a B&M today, but I didn't so this explains why. I was curious if this had been delayed, but I wasn't paying attention. Thanks for the update.

It's the best in a few years.

You Negative Nancys are looking at today too selfishly. From the standpoint of important films it's undeniable.
