I dunno wtf you guys are talking about..but..Planet Terror is 2 disc and that is correct. BUT Death Proof is also a 2 disc affair. I'm looking at it right now. It's a 2 disc..

Yeah that is possible...I checked the running time after my post and that would make sense. Then what is disc 3? Perhaps extras? Digital copy?

What's the fucking point of having the theatrical version split across two discs?

DVD compression has gone a long ways in the past twelve years where that shouldn't be an issue. One could have a 188-minute film with a great looking anamorphic transfer and a rocking Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. Splitting the theatrical version across two discs would be silly as it's meant to be watched as one entity.

Regardless or not, I will be snagging the Blu-ray where that's not an issue.

Im not getting my hopes up until i see an announcment from the weinsteins. Wal-Mart always has a ton of repacked releases and just old releases to promote upcoming films, They may have the disc count wrong and it be both single releases bundled together with mivie money fro Inglorious Basterds

I'm skeptical... August 11 is less than two months away.

IF this is going to be the theatrical version, I'd think we would have heard about it earlier and from a different source.

Yes, which I do want on some sort of physical media, but it does not need to be split up across two discs. It can fit perfectly fine on one disc (ahem, Japanese six-disc box set which has it on one).

If anyone has checked out Wal-Mart's website, they've pushed back the dates on the DVD and BD releases to 12/31/09.

^Well the Public apparently didnt want Grindhouse in theaters so I dont know what your point is. I am glad Weinstien company gives us very good films that the general public doesnt seem to want.

Actually, the Weinsteins can crawl off and disappear. Everything that they have been involved in has been ridiculous (their continued mistreatment of Asian film released through Dragon Dynasty, keeping classic martial art films vaulted for years under Miramax). Continuing along with their BS like the Grindhouse releases.

I'm not interested in a Blu-ray release but I had to fork over quite a bit of cash to lock down the "correct" Japanese Grindhouse release of the two films. No complaints here - absolutely love the set, but could someone honestly tell me the Japanese market would be beat the U.S. market if there were one available here in the states? In other words why didn't the states get one?

They have to many instances of just plain fucking things up. Fanboys is the perfect example. Then you have other times where they buy these great little independant films and never release them (or do when the buzz is dead).
