Nightmare before christmas, bootlegs?

I need to find Night Before Christmas for a christmas present, it seems that theres 2 releases of that movie, both of which are OOP.

So ebay would be the best way to go for me but I cant tell the originals from the bootlegs, any suggestions on filtering out the bootlegs?

Don't buy from anyone who has multiple listings. Multiple listings is a surefire sign that someone is cranking out copies.

Wow, I had no idea this was out of print. I've been loaning my SE out to friends. Now I'm going to have to stop that. When did it go OOP?

I saw it last year in LA also (at the Bridge). It was beautiful! Hope to see it again this year.

It would be cool if Disney released this on Blu-ray!

saw this over at Potomac Yards, VA last year, for some reason I didn't think the stereoscopic imagery really popped off the screen as I had hoped it would. Seeing it again this year at Regal's latest theatre to get a REAL-D 3D system intown at Gallery Place - woohoo!

I've bought numerous editions of this film on video:

deluxe Laserdisc Box edition
DTS laserdisc edition
first DVD edition
import Region 2 edition
SE DVD

Hopefully with the rerelease in theatres there will be a new release on DVD.

I have no idea when it went oop, it wasnt a movie I was very interested in buying until my wife told me she wanted it.

I think it went OOP last year before the 3D re-release. I was sure they were going to release an Ultimate Edition this year. Looks like they're trying to keep it as a Halloween theatrical event for now.

Maybe we'll get a 15th Anniversary Edition next year.

It went OOP a couple of years ago i think 03-05. Sometime around there. I remember because my aunt bought me a copy of that movie for Christmas and then the year after that it went OOP slowly....

This is supposed to get a re-release with an extra disc. Allegedly the bonus disc will be a cd with a bunch of popbands covering their favorite songs. Disney might be waiting until next year since that's the 15th anniversary (and they love that stuff).

Isn't that the second disc of last year's CD release?

I've also seen it last year in 3D and it was gorgeous! Too bad that the home release of the 3d version is currently impossible...
They did re-release the soundtrack last year (with the cool 3d cover), so why not the dvd? Especially since nearly every theater now has Digital Projection and more people can see the movie again/for the first time there's gonna be a demand for it...

So wait, are we saying that the original release is OOP or the latest one? I know the original went OOP just before the movie got re-released. If the new one is OOP, that is news to me.

Yeah I was surprised that Potomac Yards got this, since they never did 3D before unless it was like Sharkboy or something. Of course it figures that the one time they do have 3D I'm away at college. >_>

It's been OOP for a while. I believe it is still available in other countries though and anamorphic no less. I bought the UK release and it was pretty cheap. Can't get enought NBC.

Why did you go all the way out there?! I saw it at the Lowe's Georgetown 14 in town.

I think what people are saying is correct. Disney probably wants to re-release this in theaters around Halloween every year in 3-D. Without a DVD version, people (including me who DOES own the last edition!) will continue to flock to these annual showing. The 3-D really is just f-ing awesome.

My friend's band either just recorded or are about to record a song for a tribute CD, I'm not sure which one though, I need to ask him.

On eBay, be suspicious of any non-USA sellers who are selling a Region 1 NTSC disc. Its probably not legit. You can look at most auctions and tell by the listing. Bootleg copies usually have nothing listed that states is an original, but are vague enough that if you don't ask you may assume its good.

Looks like it going for 40 dollars and up. I glanced at a few auction on eBay and most of the ones I saw appear legit...a couple were obvious "imports" which is usually the same as bootleg....

my friend and I went over to Potomac Yards because the timing of 'Nightmare Before Christmas' and 'TCM:The Beginning' worked out better... and there's ample parking
