Welcome to Paramount's distinctive pleasure is screwing all fans 'Star Trek'... There have been rumblings that Voyager will get a complete-series release next holiday season or holiday season 09 a la "The Next Generation" where the set will go for about $300ish, but that is just rumor.

Personally I would love to own and watch the Star Trek series... growing up my mother was the biggest trekky I've ever met (she can probably carry on a conversation in Keong (wow that was spelt horribly wrong)), but even she can't stomach the prices for the releases. I've only caught episodes here and there over the years and would love to watch them in chronological order... Maybe one day.

But we did purchase "The Original Series" at costco this past month for about $140 total (since they were $44.xx a season). She's watching them back home, and I can't wait to pick them up when I visit at the end of the month.

They're screwing themselves, too. I wonder when they're going to wake up and smell the casual fan's coffee. For instance, I don't consider myself an X Files fan but I watched it on occasion and liked it a lot. When that came out on DVD it was also highly priced so I didn't even think about buying it. It finally came out in the slim pack priced at $20 or cheaper per season and now I've purchased 6 seasons (so far). The studio went from a snowball's-chance-in-hell of ever seeing my money to $120 plus more in the future. Voyager is my favorite Star Trek so, yes, I've purchased all but season 6. If the stratospheric prices came down to the normal price tier for most single season sets, I would most certainly look into buying other Star Trek series on DVD.

I'm hoping they'll price drop the existing collections before releasing a repackaged one since we'll most likely be able to get that cheaper. I got TNG and DS9 for $250 each during one of the last DD sales, so I'm hoping for voyager in the same area and not the $550-$600 that it is now.

I know I don't have a single season of Voyager, but my wife would pick up all 7 if the price were to ever drop. Their loss.

Me too. The price is the only thing keeping me from buying it is the price.

I didn't buy any of the TNG sets (nor any X-Files sets) until the price dropped.

Was actually thinking about this last night. Only bought season 1 of TNG, then realized I was nuts for even thinking of spending that much money for a series, and havent bought any since.

I did actually pick up all 7 seasons of Deep Space Nine for the higher prices, but I feel kind of dirty comparing Deep Space Nine to Voyager.

It seems odd that Paramount has yet to reduce the prices on Voyager and Enterprise. TOS, TNG and Deep Space nine have been ~$50 for a while now.
