REAP THE WILD WIND was one of Universal's very early DVD releases. Has anyone done a comparison between the two yet?

I haven't seen a comparison but I presume it is remastered. Given that all the other titles are getting such treatment I'd be baffled if it wasn't.

Van Damme set coming soon. Hard Target and Timecop potentially in WS.

Only between the the copy in the set and the UK R2; the differences are very slight (and probably the difference between the original NTSC and PAL copies anyway) but the previous iteration was very good IMHO.

I haven't watched it in awhile but I remember it looking pretty damn good. I have noticed that that even with the leaps in technology some earlier releases look better than some of their later incarnations...

Bah. Street Fighter still remains to be the old non-anamorphic version from the previous DVD (taken from the LD).

The intial Hard Target DVD was already anamorphic 1.85:1.

I noticed on the back of the cover of the new Van Damme Quadruple Feature, that together with Timecop, The Quest is supposedly anamorphic 2.35:1 also. The old one wasn't anamorphic.

Also looks like the set is two dual-layered discs with 2 movies on the same side on each, as opposed to dual-sided discs.

I would love to get Sudden Death in widescreen. I know it's an "Obvious" Die Hard ripoff but it's my favorite Van Damme film.

Yeah, I had Hard Target and Sudden Death mixed up. Also, I am baffled -- if The Quest is really newly anamorphic, why isn't Street Fighter? They're on the same disc...

I know why Timecop is, though, they just did it up for HD-DVD last year.

Three new titles: TimeCop, The Quest and Big Fat Liar.

Universal's website says Problem Child is anamorphic as well, so I'll throw that on there. Worth noting though, it seems the Family 4-pack has no bonus features, which means trailers for Cop, Problem Child and Payne, and several bonus features for Kicking and Screaming. It also means you probably will lose features with all of Universal's other Quadruple Features.

Thanks for keeping this list updated. Disappointing that some of these newer collections are missing special features and are not remastered.

So far Street Fighter is the only one. Still, it implies a not-so-bright future for other Franchise Collections.

Updated the list again with a little more info.

I'm defenitly getting the family pack for Problem Child because I've already got Kindergarten Cop and the other movies are not interesting well cept for Major Payne but Problem Child is the REAL and ONLY reason i'm getting this!

Looks like Universal is releasing a new Van-damme 4-pack (on Feb. 10th 2009)
Wonder if we'll finally get a WS Sudden Death...

If all these are anamorphic, this would be a must-buy for me. I've always had a soft spot for Van Damme's movies.

Re: Universal remastering titles for their "Franchise Collections"

It looks like Clint Eastwood's The Eiger Sanction is anamorphic in the new Clint Eastwood: American Icon collection. I expect The Beguiled and Coogan's Bluff have new transfers as well, as they are on the same disc, although who knows.

Re: Universal remastering titles for their "Franchise Collections"

Are these Franchise Collection remastered or only a select few? The Tremors 1-4 did reformat 1-2, but 1 doesn't look remastered.
