Full Metal Jacket question

I have to do a 5-page film critique for a Vietnam class on Full Metal Jacket. I've found the DVD at Best Buy on Friday but it's only in full-screen. My question is has this movie been released in widescreen or was that even the original ratio for the film? All help is appreciated.

I don't own this title but it would shock me if there wasn't a widescreen version available.

From what I know about the fullscreen DVD is that Kubrick actually prefered the film to be viewed at the 1.33:1 aspect ratio. He fell in love with the standard format after he saw Full Metal Jacket formatted. I could be wrong, though.

i am truly amazed at how many Kubrick aspect ratio threads still crop up to this day. Search Kubrick and look into just about any thread for a very lengthy explanation on this situation...

and post that report when your finished...

The HD DVD and BD versions have it in widescreen, but there will be new editions of those next month also.
