I'm sure there's some overlap, but it's a different audience don't you think?

Mao 09-17-07 10:28 PM

abrg923,

I've just noticed that you've only ever come into my posts to either question or criticize my meager information.

I frankly find it tedious to have to explain myself and this will be the last time that I do so.

I decided to research for you a bit.

On Sept. 2, I posted the street date for "Harry Potter". The next site to break the news along with details did so on Sept. 7th.

On the same date, I posted the street date for "Transformers". The only site I could find did so on Sept. 5th.

If you look at my main post, "The DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release Calendar & Discussion Thread", you'll see that I routinely post dates earlier than almost sites, as I have access to countless sources in the DVD community. Take a look at it, and tell me where I'm wrong. (The recent Lindsay Lohan flop "I Know Who Killed Me" is listed on 9/2 in post #4 as being released on Nov. 27th....it'll be announced any minute now...)

I usually only post in the main forum if it's a major title. As early information is most usually very safeguarded by the studios, I've never been chastised for simply confirming or releasing a street date.

You are correct that I almost never post specifics. I leave that for the official studio/website announcments on countless other websites.

That said, I'll leave you with a bit more info for you to chew on:

"Superbad" will be released on standard DVD, Blu-Ray and UMD on December 4th. The unrated 2-disc version will run 119 minutes, while the single disc version will run 113 minutes.

You will see this information and more around the official announcement date of Oct. 8th. If you desperately need my source here, it's called Sony Pictures.

I take a bit of offense to your use of the term "reputable website". If you don't find DVDTalk to be a reputable website, I ask you: what the hell do you come here for? Since when is not DVDTalk a source?

As for this old "guy on a message board", please let me know if you care to put your money where your typing fingers are. A gentleman's wager of $50 if I'm wrong on Superbad?

P.S.

madcougar, I left more gas money on the counter.

Don't forget to brush your teeth before bed.

 Superbad on Blu-ray on the same day

Mao,

I mean no disrespect at all. But as you know, there are plenty of unreliable people on the internet, who do the same sort of thing. I've seen where people will scoop 2-3 release dates correctly, and then completely make up the rest of them, and people follow their word as gospel.

You seem to be different. Your logic makes sense as to why you give minimal details, and with you stating that, I'm definitely willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I apologize for coming off as offending - that wasn't my intent. I didn't realize you had connections within the industry (again, others on other forums that post things don't always), and you seem to be on the mark.

Also didn't mean offense to DVDTalk as a website - news posted by users on a forum isn't always the most accurate, though.

Again, apologies if any offense was taken, or if I came off too harshly.

Hey Guys,

Updates on Ropeofsilicon.com looks like there will be a one-disc rated edition of Superbad, a one-disc Unrated version, and a two-disc unrated version.
Here are the confirmed features for the two-disc:

Now the only thing to worry about is whether the R version will be available in widescreen or not!

That is the worse thing about the unrated/extended trend. When studios release the theatrical in pan & scan/fullscreen only, and the other version in widescreen.

Giles 10-09-07 02:45 PM

I think the studios think the average joe is pretty fickle and not only releases the cut version but also cuts off the right and left of the image (or opening the top and bottom to reveal more image).

starseed1981 10-09-07 02:47 PM

This is my most anticipated movie for the rest of the year. That Fat kid is to die for throughout the whole thing.

dsa_shea 10-09-07 06:35 PM

2-Disc one is awesome! I love the super close-up kind of cover that they also did for Knocked Up and The Forty Year Old Virgin.

chris_sc77 10-10-07 08:40 PM

I really disliked this movie but might pick up the 2-disk from columbiahouse.com because those features sound great. Hopefully this will have a feature to eliminate Bill Hader from the feature.

Matthew Chmiel 10-10-07 08:48 PM

Why do both covers need to say it's unrated and extended TWICE?

gotrice487 10-11-07 01:08 AM

2-disc for me!

mike2 10-11-07 08:28 AM

2 disk no doubt

hapgilmore 10-11-07 09:36 AM

i can't believe people are hating on Seth, he's the funniest character in the movie!

I bet they will change that on the cover, its redundant to have it on there twice.
