I'd be curious too, didn't even know this was coming out. The original was one of the first DVDs I bought iirc.

I have found no evidence anywhere yet that a new release of this movie exists.

I'm guessing that Fox just released an updated version of the old release with their logo added to the cover.

So this would be the 3rd time this movie has been reissued with the same specs? I got the 2nd release, which is non-anamorphic, and since Fox didn't promote this I'd say it's safe to say it's the same disc. I agree that it would be great to get this one anamorphic. I want my space vampires enhanced, damnit!

Fox has done that about 20 times with The Abyss so far, so we shouldn't be too surprised. It's even worse in the case of that movie, because the case art on all versions claims the disc to be anamorphic when it isn't.

Well, theyve quietly enhanced several other films-and they do not note it on the back-just a "2.35 widescreen"-even if 16x9.

This would have to be a disc with the FOX logo alongside the MGM on the back cover.
This really needs a 2 disc SE-instead we get 3 editions of SPECIES: #1, flat, and barebones
#2 16x9 SE with bonus stuff , and soon,# 3-- a 2-disc UE.
Not that Natasha whatsername is hard to look at...
OR the 300th edition of THE DARK CRYSTAL (which I own btw-haveing bought 298, and 299 and then sold)
