Re: The Official MMA DVD Discussion Thread (UFC/Pride & Other)

Hi guys,

The cover image for the UFC: Ultimate 100 Greatest Fights is available at Amazon.com - maybe someone else can post it? I tried but I'm too new to this site to be allowed to post URLs. I don't know any details of the DVDs yet, but with a price of $89.99, it must have a lot, I'm guessing all 100 fights in full (don't quote me on that though).

At Amazon.ca, the Canadian version of Amazon, the DVD set is pre-ordering at $69.99! If you want it, I'd say order soon. If the price goes up, you'll still get to keep the $69.99 price. Sorry, I can't post the URL for that one either!

Anyone with a high quality scan of UFC 57's cover? I'm willing to pay for one. Someone hit me up at [email protected]

found it at best buy today for 44.99. its like a 7 or 8 disc set and advertises that there is over 23 hours worth of fights

I picked up the Blu-Ray of the Ultimate Greatest Fights set at Best Buy. It's 6 discs, and it does include all hundred fights in their entirety, as well as all 5 episodes of the "Ultimate 100 Countdown" show that aired on Spike to countdown the matches. Some of the fights include post/pre-fight stuff, and others don't.

The DVD version does not include the 5 episodes of the Ultimate 100 Countdown, and is 8 discs.

The packaging is very nice as well. It's the same for the Blu-Ray and DVD. Here's a few pictures:

Probably not until next Spring. He was originally scheduled to fight at 106 this month, but had to pull out due to an illness preventing him from training. His fight was rescheduled to 108 in January, but he is still sick (they think it's mono) and he won't be ready for January neither.

Just give it time.

Looks like those of us who buy the DVD version can still get the Ultimate 100 episodes, it's got a release date of Jan 5th on both Bestbuy.com & also on UFC.tv. Run time is 3+ hours, which would make sense for 5 45 minute episodes.

I wonder, did they make widescreen versions for the pre 2007 fights, or are they all shown in the full screen format

Anything that was originally aired in 4:3 is shown in 4:3 on the Blu-Ray. There is a note at the beginning of each disc that the fights are presented in their original aspect ratios to "protect the historic integrity of the original broadcast."

I was able to pick up the "Ultimate 100 Greatest Fight Moments" Countdown dvd (Street date 1/5/10) at my local Saturday Matinee for $12.99 this past Tuesday. Also picked up UFC 102 (Couture vs Nogueria) and UFC 103 (Franklin vs Belfort) both $12.99 each.

Now the wait begins for 104/105, which looks to be a double feature release similar to UFC 95/96 since 105 was actually a Spike TV event and not on PPV here in the US.

Whats the deal with the language being edited on 100? I know Lesnar might be a draw for the WWE kids and what not, but still. I wonder if they edited Goldberg swearing as well (on the ppv, Mike Goldberg essentially repeated something Lesnar said, and that included a shit.)

I preordered the 100 greatest fights instead, dec 8 on blu-ray, figured i'd rather have the full fights in one collection.

Looks like UFC 104 / UFC 105 will be a double disc ala UFC 95/96

I've never watched any King of the Cage before, but I always see the box-sets around me for decent prices. So which box-set would you recommend to start off with? Also, what events are in each box-set and in what order do the DVD's go? Thanks.

Re: The Official MMA DVD Discussion Thread (UFC/Pride & Other)

^KOTC sets are a mess in general. The first one was fine with the first 8 events. After that some events got single disc releases, some went to box sets and others have never seen the light of day.

Each event tends to have at least 1 ok fight, some having decent fights. I mean, it is really a complete mixed bag with has beens, up and coming fighters and never will-bes.

Re: The Official MMA DVD Discussion Thread (UFC/Pride & Other)

Just wondering if anyone here would know if any online stores like Amazon, etc. offer the UFC 100 DVD/Blu Ray with the white slipcovers? I noticed at HMV and Walmart today that they no longer have the white covers. Not sure if they were just temporary or what the deal is. Sadly, I hate slip covers, because I can never find any not beat to heck. But I wouldn't mind finding these.

Thanks for the help pvdfan, I was curious about those KOTC sets since there were some fighters on there that I liked.

Do you have a Best Buy in your area? Last time I went in my area, I remember still seeing UFC 100's with the white slipcover. Also, they sometimes pop up on eBay.

I do have one, however, the one copy the did have was badly bent up. It seems odd that some dvds with slipcovers come sealed, whereas others do not.

Cheers

This is my first post here so hi :)

Anyway,I'm from the UK so I don't know the exact differences between the US releases and ours so I have a question.

I was recently looking to get some UFC DVDs (I've been concentrating on getting all the Pride shows for a while) and it appears UFC 94 doesn't have the 3 part Primetime specials included on the DVD.Anyone know why?

Re: The Official MMA DVD Discussion Thread (UFC/Pride & Other)

Also Aces High I noticed your collection a few pages back, where did you get the Pride/K-1 Shockwave 2002 DVD? I've been looking for a DVD of that for years.I thought it was never officially released.

Sorry for the double post

Picked it up and like 95/96 there's a code for the behind the scenes footage that expires in 6 months. Which really sucks. I mean how hard is it for them to include an extra disc that includes all the extras's for both shows. I enjoy having those countdown shows on disc.
