If it's a security shield, leave it be

To quote Will Smith (in all his movies) "Aww, HELL no!" Take all security crap off, even replacing an Amaray case occasionally if necessary.

if you try to take a security sheild off there is a good chance you can ruin the disk complety

Man, i hear you. I bought the oop Island Of Dr. Moreau used at a game store. When I got it home I noticed the Blockbuster shield on it. It said on the sticker, "danger, removing sticker will damage disk," etc. I laughed because I've taken off two dozen of these with no problem. I used the same technique this time that I had used before and, unfortunately, the image on the face of the disk came off with it. WTH!?!

I think I'll just avoid buying those kind of disks from now on.

or if you don't have Goo Gone, a zippo fluids would do the job just fine.
