Total time you devote to anything DVD's in a day?
I mean thinking about, looking at a collection, going out to get a new release, coming to DVD Talk, discussing them with a significant other or just plain other, and of course watching them by yourself or your kids or anyone.
I love DVD's and my collection and i love coming here and posting about them and whatever. It doesn't consume my life, but it is a hobby like no other i have had in my life and i've had a few.
i'm anal so i make sure my collection is even on the shelf, i wonder if something should go somehwere else. i pick out a movie to watch that night, sometimes i don't watch, but i pick one out just in case. i look forward to getting one in the mail and going to get ones on release Tuesday. and this usually happens in any one day.
this is the summer and i will be teaching in a couple weeks so i definitely have more time now to do this stuff. but it is my hobby and i love it so right now.
if i had to guesstimate how much time, i would say at least 2hrs., upto 4 if i watch a movie that day. is that sad? i hope not. but, it is something i love to do and...it keeps me off the street!
so how much time do you think you devote to anything DVD's in a given day, even if just a mere thought that lasts 1 minute?

I'm too busy watching/listing/re-shelving dvds to figure out how much time I spend on them. Quite a bit though I'd say.

depending on work, and if i have a lot of DVD-TV to watch, anywhere from 2-6 hours a day. DVD-TV is always good to leave on in the background while doing something else

With watching them, buying them, reading this forum, searching exclusives, maintaining threads, checking ebay for wants, selling and trading, and organizing them; it has to be my primary function with the possible exceptions of sleep and work. So at least 40 hours per week.

I can honestly say a minimum of 12 hours a day, since I own a store that sells new & used DVD's. It's my life! Even when I'm not at work, it's always in the back of my mind... things like how to improve my store, etc.

I love my dvd collection, i love to stare at my collection and i love coming online and reading reviews for new and old dvds. Also every single day i look forward to reading new discussions on here on dvdtalk.com related to dvds. Also last but not least the best thing about being a collector is you could just pop in any dvd you want and escape from the real world and any problems or work related stuff and just enjoy a good old movie for those 2 or 3 plus hours.

A lot of time is spent (with both DVDs and my music collection). Not only do I have a large collection, but I work at a store that sells both, and my girlfriend and I enjoy both as well.

Lately I find myself spending more and more time just staring at, and re-arranging, my DVDs than actually watching them.
I think it started because I thought I didn't have time to sit down for two hours and watch a movie, so a few minutes of examining and re-arranging was satisfying enough. Followed by a few minutes online to check out the forums, and browse upcoming releases.
And read some reviews.
And then few more minutes looking for some OOP edition that would look cool on the shelf. And why not a few minutes to see if anything good is on sale?
And then, I realise, in all that time, I could have watched something; at least an episode of a sitcom, at worst, one of those LOTR EEs that looks so damn impressive on the shelf.
This is a really frustrating hobby.

My ordinary day:
Gaze: 10 minutes
View: 2 to 5 hours of watching different scenes from various films. Plus add around 3 hours max if it's an unwatched DVD.
Browse (both net and stores): 1 to 2 hours.
So that's around 4 hours a day.
