Best DVD version of The Lost World (1925)?
I noticed that The Lost World from 1960 (iguanas and all) is coming out on DVD in a month or so and includes the silent 1925 version. I have heard that most versions of the 1925 version are around 90 minutes I think but that recently somewhere a print was found with 30 more minutes that would be added. That said, I had 2 questions.
1) Does anyone know any details of the 1925 Lost World included on this upcoming DVD (is it a better version, cleaned up, extended, etc.)?
and
2) Which version of the 1925 film is the best one to get on DVD? Is there a more definitive version? I just have a $3.99 Walgreens public domain copy of it. Hopefully the new version will be nicer. Anyone know?

The best version overall is the David Shepard/IMAGE disc. It's still available and has the best overall picture, it's the longest running, has a LOT of extra features and it comes with a scaled-down replica of the original thratrical program book. My only complaint is the revamped title cards and freeze-frame opening credits...but thats pretty minor.

A great companion piece to this would be The Real Lost World (not yet on DVD) which basically is a two-hour documentary abour Roraima, the place that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write The Lost World.

agreed. For a cheaper version I believe the St. Clair Vision version that showed up in the 3 movie set had stolen the transfer from image. bummer for them but it is really cheap.
