Hey, isn't Clonus the movie that rips off Michael Bay's The Island?

(...or maybe it's the other way around? )

Wow, they are really cranking these out! I may be able to retire my VHS copies to the basement after all!

Wow, I wasn't expecting another one until 2008 or so. That's awesome. Wasn't Johnny at the Fair already on another release? I really wish they wouldn't repeat the shorts like that, but still some good movies.

dadaluholla:

Well to be fair, I think the original Shorts collections (released on VHS initially) were created before Rhino was really cranking hard at the MST3K watering hole. I remember being overjoyed to be getting these shorts because I didn't know from one set to the next if we were going to get a new collection (or single release). I don't mind repeating shorts (better seen as part of the original episode ANYWAY) so that I get some movies I may not have caught initially.

I'm always up for a new collection but I don't think I've seen anything but Clonus in this collection. I'd love to get some more pre S4 stuff or some S9/S10 stuff (I would kill for Werewolf, Puma Man, or Deathstalker myself).

Michael

Damn, and we wait another set to find out if we'll ever see the DVD debut of our hero, Zapp Rowsdower.

My thoughts exactly!

I so look forward to these. Although I never thought I'd see Clonus, I guess the film's creators got a kick out of the MST3K treatment of their film, and didn't take personal offense to the jokes.

While I would love to see many of the earlier Joel-era episodes, I figured it would be harder to get them because of rights issues. Therefore, the Mike-era episodes I am still holding out hope for are:

Puma Man (love the snazzy costume)
The Final Sacrifice (Zapp!)
Devil Fish (got a laugh out of the various beer drinking references lobbed at our hero, not to mention the look of the "monster")
Soultaker (aka, in your best Soul Train intro voice, sooooooooul-taker)
The Final Justice (another Joe Don Baker!)

Secret Agent Super Dragon is one of my all time favorites. Actually all 4 of these are pretty strong titles. Can't wait!

It is still a major part of the episode. I don't want shorts cut out just because they were on a separate release.

The bad thing about the Shorts collections is that they don't have the host segments that go along with them. I don't remember if "Johnny at the Fair" had a corresponding host segment, but some of them did, like "Are You Ready For Marriage?" where Tom Servo and Crow decide to get married.

Parts: The Clonus Horror is a wonderful addition. First time I saw it, I was almost hysterical with laughter. Want to see more from the Mike Nelson era. Still waiting for Riding with Death.

Don't they have to though? I don't remember how many of the old single releases we got, but with 10 seasons worth of material, I think we'll be well into the upper 40's in terms of volume numbers.

The movie is kind of Manos like. It is so bad that some people can't even sit through it with the riffing. I enjoy it though. If I remember right they have a lot of fun with the in air refueling at the beginning of the film.

That is definitely one of my favorites ("Cordot Five to Cordot One: why are we called 'Cordot'?"). Overall, this seems like a strong collection (although, I'm not sure if I've ever seen "The Rebel Set").

Now, if they'd just release "Danger! Death Ray" and "Laserblast"...

I'll rest easy when they put Jack Frost in the collection (it has to be easy to get Finnish-Russo rights, right?!)
