Roseanne: The Complete 8th Season, not so complete?
I picked up Roseanne: The Complete 8th Season, at Best Buy (along with Season 4, as my free season). I just came home, and read on the SitcomsOnline message forums that Season 8 has at least 1 edit. Apparently, in the very first episode, "Shower the People You Love with Stuff", it does not feature the original "tag", which was the two different Becky's in the send-up of the theme song to The Patty Duke Show. I haven't put my set in, yet, so I can't confirm. However, if this is true, I will be EXTREMELY disappointed. Why would they not include this? It's even shown in the syndicated airings?!
Can anyone else confirm this?

But if that's the ONLY edit, I'm happy with the season 8. A lot of laugh out loud moments in this one!

Thanks for confirming.
I agree, Season 8 has a lot of great moments. I probably won't get around to watching the Season 8 set until next week.

Watched Disc 1 this morning (starting at 3am) & I can *Confirm* that the song is indeed NOT on the episode.
Not a major loss. Season 8 is a great season & it's the second last season of Roseanne & it's the last season before Roseanne turns into a completely different show. I actually didn't hate the series finale as much as some people do. I thought it was different at least. plus Sarah Chalke + Lecy Goranson all in the same season=
.
I've been impressed with Anchor Bay (now Starz Home Entertainment) on the fast DVD releases for Roseanne. I wish more studios would be this fast with every TOD title.

Well, I read on another forum that in one of the Disney World episodes, the scene where "When You Wish Upon A Star" was played, is gone as well. I think this really sucks!

Yeah, I thought that bit was very clever. To omit it from the DVD set is just insulting.

Wow, are you serious??
A few weeks ago I was trying to find that becky scene on the internet but could not find it anywhere! I was even thinking about buying season 8 roseanne just so I can watch that scene.
That really sucks... its one of my favorite moments from roseanne.

I had heard the old Becky was attending college and took time off of the show.

Always liked the old Becky better. Also didn't really like how they changed Becky under the new one. She used to have high goals and then became a Hooters (or something the same as Hooters) girl. Just couldn't see the original Becky doing that.

How much did you guys drop on this set? "Roseanne" is my favorite sitcom of all-time. Even over "Seinfeld". But I thought Season 8 was pretty bad and just got worse as the season went on. And Season 9....absolutely terrible.

At any rate, to answer your question, I spent $12.50 on this set, because I bought it at Best Buy, where they had it for $24.99, plus any other Season of Roseanne for free. I didn't have Season 3, 4, or 6, so, I picked up Season 4 as my free Season (mainly because of the terrific Halloween episode, Trick Me Up, Trick Me Down).

Perhaps after Season 9 is released, they'll release a Complete Series set. Hell, maybe if it happens, it'll have the original Season 1 episodes instead the syndicated versions.
Hey, one can dream! And hell, it's Anchor Bay, so you know a re-release is not out of the question.

Lecy did attend college & thus Sarah Chalke. I don't understand the whole point of leaving a hit show to go and pursue an education when you could just do that once the series is over. But I don't know her reasoning for it so? Sara Gilbert (Darlene) also was going to college I think but she worked it out so she could still be on Roseanne for the most part. I think she went to Yale University if I'm not mistaken.
Anyways as much as Season 9 was a mess for alot of the episodes, like MadonnasManOne said Roseanne pretty much lost all creative control over the series & it was at least good that Roseanne tried to tie things up in the series finale. Can't wait ti'll the season 9 DVD is released probally in late November or early December. Thats been the release pattern so far.

It was only when she realized she lost a huge part of her audience that she try to redeem herself in the finale. And even that I hated, sorry guys. The whole character development being made up. Confusing and borderline crazy. At least the last show "felt" like it could have been lifted from an earlier season. But every other episode during the last year was just abysmal IMO. I'll give you that season 8 had a few bright spots. But it was the beginning of the end, for sure.

She said that, when they finally decided to end the show, she wanted to end it on her terms. I think she came up with a satisfying finale. It may not have been what fans expected, but, at least it helped to erase the terrible direction that the show had gone in during the final season.
