Weren't the previous image releases all anamorphic already, though? Unless I am mistaken?

I'll check the DVDs...I thought they were too.

Since I don't have a HD set up I simply wouldn't know otherwise :)

To correct myself, apparently the Image release of 5 Dolls For an August Moon wasn't anamorphic. But I'm pretty sure that's the only one.

Well, looking at the back of the boxes...5 DOLLS, BARON BLOOD, LISA AND THE DEVIL and HATCHET FOR A HONEYMOON are NOT Anamorphic, but the other titles I have appear to be. Thats odd.

Linn1 09-20-07 12:50 PM

And the new remasters look AMAZING. Take a look at Tim Lucas' blog.

Carcosa 09-20-07 02:43 PM

Yes, they certainly do....

Baron Blood looked PRETTY good on the Image disc, and Lisa and the Devil was almost considered a lost film at one point so it looked good under those circumstances.

These transfers look like they will be outstanding. KILL BABY KILL was certainly a keeper on the last set....

I agree. It was the main reason I held off on buying the R1 release of the film.

Does anyone know if the audio is any better in this box set? If I remember right the volume of the audio track would fluctuate insanely throughout the entire film.

Tim Lucas reviewed the new Bay of Blood disc on his blog. He notes, near the end of the entry, "Put it this way: the audio is no longer distracting."

Carcosa 09-25-07 10:02 PM

Is there enough left for a volume 3 at this point? The only IMAGE titles not re-released are HATCHET FOR A HONEYMOON and I, VAMPIRE...

I don't know why but I'm reluctant to part with my IMAGE discs....they had such great packaging and liner notes. There is something wrong with me.

I'm just getting around to Bava's stuff and I'm glad I waited. Just nabbed box #1 can't wait for #2!

What about his other films; Shock, Blood and Black Lace, The Whip And The Body, Hatchet For The Honeymoon. Might these end up in a bava box vol. 3?

Matthew Ackerly 09-26-07 07:23 AM

Blue Underground just re-released Shock, so i doubt that would be included.

dullboy 09-26-07 09:26 AM

Looks like Deepdiscount raised their price on the Vol. 2 box by $3 since the B2G1 sale.

FusionX 09-26-07 11:41 PM

Does the Dark Sky DVD on Kill Baby Kill hold any value?

Yes, I recently saw one go for over $100 on ebay.

I have a sealed copy, but I wasn't sure of its value, since I haven't seen any on there.

Carcosa 09-27-07 08:59 AM

It is worth a few bucks and has been averaging around $100 on eBay for awhile now. I see no reason why it will drop in price., since it will apparently never see release officially. You may want to hang on to it since the Anchor Bay disc has NO extras to speak of. The Tim Lucas commentary would be interesting to hear...

I've heard the commentary, but even if I hadn't, no commentary is worth $100 to me. :)

Does anyone know for sure if the individual release of BLACK SUNDAY (10/23)will contain the commentary by Tim Lucas?

I have a pending transaction on my card for $30.18 from Deepdiscount, so hopefully that means they are prepping my Bava Box 2 for shipping.

EDIT: Yep, shipped!

joe_b 10-18-07 10:51 PM

Ditto, got a shipping confirmation this morning.

And my Bava Box better arrive in a box this time!

alfonsosoriano 10-18-07 11:08 PM

God I need to place my order...

Darkgod 10-19-07 08:30 AM

Not a good week to go un employed with this coming out.

hanshotfirst1138 10-19-07 11:35 AM

Excellent! I hope Netflix gets with the program and replaces'em proper. Now if only MGM would rerelease Planet of the Vampires. And so many other great Midnight Movie releases, like Corman's Poe series. But I digress...
