I cant wait to get rid of my copy of Bay of Blood from Simitar, what a crudey print they used.
|
Well, looks like I kinda get my wish about AB releasing the Vol. 1 discs separately:
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/blacksab.jpg Supposed to come out late October. Now I just gotta work on Girl Who Knew Too Much... Oh, and one question: does anyone know if AB has the rights to all of Bava's movies--specifically, Blood and Black Lace and Hatchet for the Honeymoon? Will those be in Vol. 3, or do I have to seek out older releases? EDIT: Looks like Black Sunday is coming out separately on the same day, too: http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/blacksun.jpg |

This is the first time that I think I'm going to let financial obligations slide to buy DVDs this season! |
i hope they do have the rights to Blood and Black Lace because the transfer on the VCI release is terrible.
im in for vol. 2 though. |

Hatchet, yes. |
I have yet to see Amazon put this up for preorder - waiting, waiting...

Here's the artwork. Interesting, they are including "Kidnapped", which I already bought. dammit. |

Seems silly to avoid buying a dirt-cheap set just because you can't figure out how to rid yourself of the other titles. |

Nice to see the new set is getting 8 films. Not nice to see one of them is Kidnapped. I assume this is going to be the same single disc they released earlier this year with both cuts of the film?

Most likely... I don't understand why they just didn't include it with Volume 1. Doesn't make much sense. But for 35 bucks for 8 films, I'm not complaining. |
Yeah damn. I also bought Kidnapped. Still a great deal and I can't complain with their awesome sets. I'm pumped for Bava number 2!
|
Many of the Anchor Bay/Starz Bava titles (including Vol.2) are included in Deep Discount's current AB buy 2 get 1 free horror sale. Offer ends 9/24/07.
|
So, does anyone think that if I go ahead and buy Erik the Conqueror, I'll be screwed on it when Volume 3 comes out, like with Kidnapped and Volume 2? |
I sure hope you are because I want as many volumes of this guy as I can get. ;)

I want as many as possible too, but I don't like this business of releasing one seperately and sticking it to the people that buy it. I have Kidnapped sitting three feet away from me and it's already going to be sold now because there's no way I'm not getting this second volume. I think I'll just wait on Erik until the third volume is announced. |

I'll be interested in the transfer quality of BARON BLOOD and FOUR TIMES THAT NIGHT...the IMAGE DVD for the latter was terrible but I haven't noticed that the Anchor Bay discs are substantially better so far. They ARE a remarkable bargain though for sure.
I guess the AIP versions of these films will probably never get a DVD release proper. I really would love to hear Karloff's own voice in BLACK SABBATH... -sigh- It looks like the single releases for BLACK SABBATH and BLACK SUNDAY have nothing additional added beyond the versions in the box set....who in their right mind would fork out $20 (list, of course) for these when the box set is SOOOO cheap? |

Had some bad experiences with DDD in the past, prefer not to shop there.
