Had a hard time finding Someone's Watching Me! today.

BB, Target, WM, nor CC got any copies in except the box set. Had to go to Rasputin's and even they only got 1 copy. It actually has a 6 min JC Director Rising featurette which I didnt know it had.

I found the Twisted Terror Collection last night at Best Buy, they had like 10 or so. I bought it, they tried to charge me $49.99 because their sales don't go into effect until the day of release. So I told them it was $34.99 in their ad. The dumb girl tried to tell me the one in the ad was ONE movie not the box set. So I fought it and got it for $34.99.

Although they did not have any of the titles as single releases.

Picked this set up today at Best Buy (they only had 2 copies on the shelf). I'm really looking forward to watching these, especially Dr. Giggles which I saw like 13 years ago.

I didn't buy the collection, but I did buy Dr. Giggles and Warner Bros. did a poor job with the disc.

For the one thing, the movie is in an incorrect OAR. It's presented in standard flat 1.85:1 instead of the film's actual OAR of 2.35:1 scope. It's listed on the dvd box as scope, on warner's bros. site as scope yet it's presented incorrectly on the disc. What the hell Warner Bros.!? I've contacted (along with others) costumer service and nothing so far. I want to know the reasoning behind this big mistake.

There's also no chapter selection on the menu and no trailer, but there's a trailer on the twisted collection website. WTF!?

The only postive thing I can say is the PQ looks nice.

zyzzle 09-29-07 09:17 PM

DR. GIGGLES was shot in Super 35 which is an OAR of 2.35:1. Did you notice a substantial amount of picture missing on the sides? Is it possible the picture was opened up instead of scanned in (ie, there is more info on the top and bottom of the frame) in this release? Hopefully so, and in that case even though 1.85:1 is not OAR, it at least would not be a butchered P&S job.

Despite the R-rating label on the box, rumors are that Deadly Friend and Eyes of a Stranger are the Unrated cuts -- can someone confirm?

Zbu 09-30-07 02:01 AM

I'm still waiting for my copy of the set--oh yeah, I'm getting the whole magilla!--from DeepDiscount along with The Burning and Scarecrows. But it's certainly taking its sweet time getting here. *grumble*

Space_Monkey 09-30-07 07:39 PM

I'm kinda pissed Blockbuster Online doesn't even have any of the Twisted Terror titles nor The Burning nor Scarecrows listed on their site. I've never seen any of the films and a blind buy is not the way I'd prefer to do it...

They are the R-rated versions. I watched Deadly Friend the other day and I am watching Eyes Of A Stranger tonight.

If you only watched one how can you confirm both as being the regular versions? He's saying despite what it says on the box.

advdfreak 10-01-07 03:28 AM

Forgive Me! I thought he meant the Twisted Terror Collection box that houses all six titles. If he would have said boxes (plural), I would have thought otherwise. If you look at each individual box it says they are Rated R and not NR. I promise in the future not to attempt to help anyone again!

EYES OF A STRANGER and DEADLY FRIEND are uncut on these new DVDs - both contain the footage that was edited from them to get their original R-ratings.

That's what I thought -- my understanding is that it's only a few seconds that were snipped from Deadly Friend (not sure about Eyes of a Stranger).

Picked up the three titles I was interested in - The Hand, Deadly Friend, and Someone's Watching Me - for $14.97 shipped.

Sorry. www.FamilyVideo.com. Picked up all the September/October new release titles I wanted for 66% off of list price. Prom Night was 99 cents! Just use different emails for each title, and the code NEWPGMEM.

So how much was the Twisted Terror Collection after you used this code? I'm thinking of using the code on it. Also, how long is the coupon valid?

rsortor 10-06-07 07:47 AM

That coupon only gives $5.00 off the order making the Twisted Terror Collection $31.28 after the coupon plus shipping.

islandclaws 10-06-07 10:22 AM

This is a great set. I've already watched the Someone's Watching Me, Eyes of a Stranger and Deadly Friend. Sure, these aren't the greatest horror movies, but thye are a lot of fun. And the fact that DF and EoaS are uncut is pretty sweet considering the uncut scenes in DF are just about the best thing about the film and EoaS features Tom Savini's gore footage uncut. You really can't beat this set for $35.

Coupon appears to be valid indefinitely, but you never know. Ends up being a better deal if you only are interested in a few of the titles, as opposed to the entire set. Actually cheaper to buy all six individually. I only wanted three out of the six titles - The Hand because it looked like cheap, nasty fun, and I was interested in hearing Oliver Stone's reflections on the commentary track, Someone's Watching Me because I'm a Carpenter completist, at least with regards to his earlier stuff, and Deadly Friend because, well, sometimes I enjoy cheese. Keep in mind that although the coupon is $5 off, shipping is 99 cents for each title, so in actuality it's more like $4 off.
