Out Of print Fulci and Argento DVD's

Anyone have any info on when we might see these again?
I've gotten a lot more serious about my movie collection in the past few years, but many titles are long out of print on DVD by the time I discovered these titles.

Looking for:
Manhattan Baby
The New York Ripper
Phenomena

Manhattan Baby is available on amazon. Same with Phenomena (under the title Creepers). The New York Ripper is really gone and that's sad 'cos I also have it in my wish list. But it won't be too wrong to assume I guess, that since they all were once released by Anchor Bay we may soon see them as new Blue Underground editions

I bet $5 that copy of "Creepers" on Amazon is a bootleg. New Line owns the rights to Creepers (the 84-minute edit) and Blue Underground (now due to turn around) owns the rights to Phenomena (the 110-minute edit).

I have never heard BU talk about Phenomena. You have a source on this?

Isn't there a new release of Argento's Suspiria this September? What's this edition going to be like?

Bill Lustig took most of Argento's '70s and '80s works over to Blue Underground with the exception of the Demons films (and the craptacular The Church).

With Cat O'Nine Tails, Deep Red, Inferno, Opera, and Suspiria; Blue Underground is just re-issuing the previous Anchor Bay discs due to the fact they can't go any further with remastering and remixing the current transfers for standard definition (with the exception of that audio issue currently haunting the Suspiria disc). Deep Red and Inferno "silently" moved over to Blue Underground with the other three being re-launched in time for The Stendhal Syndrome special edition.

Tenebre and Phenomena have been being worked on for quite some time now and I'm more than 90% positive we will see some news on them early on in 2008.

Mat,how do you know they may fix the audio issue on Suspiria? And I've heard B.U. was closing shop by the end of the year. And their website certainly shows they're closing down. Since there is nothing on it,expect the old outdated main page advertising Daughters of Darkness.

Well, yeah. I just looked closely at the picture on amazon and it doesn't look good.
And I really haven't heard anything about BU closing up. That's a shame, I thought they had future. So anyone heard anything about William Lustig's further plans?

I'll I've heard is that the Weinstein Company is releasing a HiDef version of 'Suspiria'

as to some other Argento/Fulci films (and if you can go mutli region) there's -
- a longer version of 'Phenomena'
- 'New York Ripper' is in more complete version that what was released for the R1 edition

both versions can be bought over at exploited dvds.

They aren't, just a few people jumping the gun.

For those that are multi-region you can get several of these titles from Scandinavia by Another World Entertainment. I've reviewed quite a few and they are pretty good.

The only one I'm missing is The Beyond(1981). Hope it gets re-issued.

The audio track on AB's disc is different from the original multi-channel audio track. It has some different or missing music cues, some sound effects are softened or missing, etc. The casual viewer may not notice, but if you were very familiar with the film in it's original form, the AB disc definitely sounds off.

I've seen that cheap CREEPERS disc for sale at Walmart. Looks very public domain (I don't know what happened to New Line's ownership of that version of the film that apparently allowed this cheap DVD to exist). At any rate, I would avoid CREEPERS all together. It's missing a substantial amount of footage compared to the original cut of PHENONEMA.

it's also R-rated missing the more extreme moments of gore.

A few months ago someone over at the HorrorDVDs.com Forum said that they had emailed Blue Underground about "The New York Ripper" and that BU said that they would be releasing it in 2008.

Sorry for off-topic. I thought I read somewhere that there will be new release of 16X9 Demons 1 and 2 later this year. Can someone confirm?

Time to sale my old AB disc.

how about adding not work safe 'nasty graphic pic of face slashing'

did they go into any specifics as to this flaw of the R1 edition:

THE NEW YORK RIPPER [SPECIAL RESTORED EDITION Another World Entertainment version
Please note this restored release of THE NEW YORK RIPPER from AWE includes a specific scene in its proper place while other releases (US, Australia, Holland and France) have the scene out of sequence.

for those curious about 'Phenomena'

the Region 0 Pal 'Integral version' from Dragon:

This is the 'Integral Version' of PHENOMENA that runs 1hr 51 mins (PAL). It contains a few longer scenes then the Anchor Bay release.

Another Worlds Entertainment release of Sergio Martino's film Torso is also a more complete cut of the film than Anchor Bay's edition:

This is the NSM Records release, which is identical to the out of print release from X-Rated Kult DVD, of Sergio Martino's fine Giallo TORSO. It is uncut and includes an opening scene not in the Anchor Bay DVD release. A series of sex murders shock a college campus, and four beautiful young girlfriends head for the safety of an isolated country villa. But as they succumb to their own erotic desires, their weekend of pleasure becomes a vacation to dismember at the hands--and blade--of the lecherous maniac. Stars John Richardson, Luc Merenda, Suzy Kendall & Tina Aumont.

DVD FEATURES
Uncut Anamorphic (16:9) Widescreen (1.66:1) Version
English Audio
Optional Norwegian, Danish, Swedish & Finnish subtitles
US Trailer
Italian Trailer
Original Italian opening credits sequence
German Trailer
Alternative Opening
Alternative US opening credits sequence
Alternative US closing credits sequence
Sergion Martino Interview (English text)

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE ENGLISH SOUNDTRACK WAS EITHER NEVER RECORDED OR LOST. THEREFORE SOME SCENES ARE IN ITALIAN ONLY WITHOUT ENGLISH SUBTITLES.

I used to have the "Integral Hard" version of PHENONOMA on Japanese VHS. (I found a few prerecords of it for sale cheap in Japan. Ended up selling them for a fair amount of money on ebay. ). As mentioned, this cut was only in Italian, and also had Japanese subs instead of English of course. The extra footage on this version didn't really seem too substantial, definitely no extra gore or anything. It may have been a work in progress, not really Argento's final cut of the film?

I second that. Dragon's release is great if only you can find it. It comes as a regular edition and a two-disc SE limited to 3000 copies. I bought the latter on eBay a year and a half ago and haven't seen it there since.

I thought there was also a Japanese laserdisc edition of the Intergral version, cause that's the supposed version I had copied for me onto VHS.
