Babel: Collector's Edition --> 9/25/07

From DavisDVD

You knew it was coming. Paramount Home Entertainment has announced Babel: Collector's Edition for release on September 25th. The Academy Award-nominated film, featuring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, arrives in a new two-disc set that promises loads of special features, none of which have been announced yet. Stay tuned for more.

I held off on buying the first release precisely for this reason. Alejandro González Iñárritu said his initial cuts of the film were very long, so I'd hope they had some (even if its rough) extra footage they could include.

I doubt we'll see this on HD DVD and/or Blu-Ray, but it's always nice to hope.

So can anyone confirm, there's only one bonus feature on the second disc, a "feature-length" making-of? Is it any good?

Yep thats all there is.
It is an 87 minute long look at the making of the film.
It's good but not spectacular. I believe the trailer is included as well on the first disk.
I say pick it up if you can find it for around ten bucks. Its not worth more than that. Paramount really has gone back to making the shittiest DVD's of films that deserve so much more. INto the wild, There WIll Be Blood, Sweeney Todd, Stardust, etc...It sucks considering these were in my top 10 last year and paramount provided very weak DVD's for them.
I guess their audio commentary facilities are not working properly or something.

I wouldn't have hedged my bets on a Sean Penn commentary. Paul Thomas Anderson and Tim Burton reportedly dislike recording commentaries (Burton feels he doesn't have much to say and people seem to agree, from what I hear, and Anderson reportedly said he didn't like people taking some of the things he said in commentaries as verbatim about the meaning of the film). The only really inexcusable one listed is Stardust because it got a commentary in R2.

Thanks for the help. I signed up for CH.com and picked this as one of my freebies. Hopefully I get accepted.
