28 Weeks Later -> Oct 9th, 2007

The sequel to Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, is scheduled to be released on October 9th, according to DVDActive.

The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. DVD Extras will include an audio commentary by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Co-Writer Enrique Lopez Lavigne, a Code Red: Making Of 28 Weeks Later Behind-The-Scenes featurette, an Infected Make-Up Effects featurette, a Getting Into The Action featurette, and a 28 Days Later: The Aftermath Flash-Animated Graphic Novel. Completing the package will be deleted scenes with optional commentary, and the theatrical trailers.
The extras look about average. I missed this in the theaters, so I will definitely be picking this up. I really hope they revise the cover art though. The side-profile view of the guy in the Haz-Mat suit and mask used in the poster for the film would be much better and make it look less "direct-to-video".

according to rumour here's the proposed BR release and it's not street date to the standard DVD. Any news from Fox is purely speculative.

Pirates 3 is the only one I will buy, but here are some rumored release dates (should be day-and-date with the DVD releases):

HD DVD:
9/18 - We Are Marshall (Warner)
9/25 - Knocked Up (Universal), Next (Paramount)
11/6 - Evan Almighty (Universal)
11/13 - Ocean's Thirteen (Warner), Shrek the Third (Paramount)

Blu-ray:
9/18 - We Are Marshall (Warner)
9/25 - Bug (Lionsgate), Next (Paramount)
10/2 - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Fox), Surf's Up (Sony)
10/23 - 28 Weeks Later (Fox), Daywatch (Fox)

I totally agree. The box art they chose is pretty lame. That poster you talk of is freaking awesome.

By the way, this movie was great!

I liked this one just as much as part 1, but for different reasons. Once the shit hits the fan in this movie, it doesn't let up until the end credits.

Does anyone know if this DVD will have a slipcover like the original? It would be very nice if they both matched, and look better in everyone's collection.

The original didn't have a slipcover. The re-releases on dvd were issued with a slipcover.

I loved the first one - but ended up hating its sequel. It starts off well, but then becomes ridiculously absurd.

My favorite movie of 2007! I loved it so much that I even rented it twice when it became available in hotel rooms, showing it to other zombie fans!

It really is a superb, terrifying movie. I cant wait till Tuesday!

They might not realize that a slipcover means so much to some people... Hell, I didn't realize it either.

Used to love the slip cover. Thought it dressed up nicely those select few DVDs that got it. These days, just about any new release is given one, while the insert has been ruled unnecessary for most of them. Wish now the insert had been maintained and the slip cover never even conceived.

My first thought was "The Crazies". I was a big fan of the first film but I missed this one in the theaters. From the buzz just on this board I'm guessing it probably deserves a blind buy.

I'm tempted to buy this this week but for some reason this movie just seems to scream $6.99 in a month or 2 to me. I may hold off for a bit.

I suppose you could say the same for the first one too.

I'll be picking this up. I'll have to pick up the first one, too...saw the first, but this one is a blind buy.

And you can count me in as another one that's pissed that there's no slip cover. Dumb Fox will probably do what they did with the first one, and put one on it in the future.
