I had to up the contrast to see said schlongs. Excuse my schlong blindness.

Which stores are going to sell this? Best Buy Circuit City, WM. Because of the NC-17/X rating.

A little bit 'disappointed' with the DVDBeaver review - then again - they do state that
Apologies if this review is far less detailed than our usual - but like most of the actors involved in Caligula - I just want to move on.... quickly. What are the 'differences' between the two versions - as the pre-release seems to 'lose' what made it notorious in the first place (ie - the hardcore stuff !!) - or is this still in there ?? who's up for a more detailed review ?? :) Malcolm's and Helen's commentaries are seperate - pity as I would have much preferred to have BOTH of them chatting rather than listening to them seperately :) - its not as though one is going to watch the WHOLE 2.5 HR FILM again to listen just to them !!! |
What a dumb ass review - why even bother if he never seen the original dvds transfer?

the inclusion of the 'blocked' explicit pics for the dvd'beaver' review seems to fit the sheer gratiutous nature of the film itself. (munch, munch, munch) |

I'm pretty sure I saw this and the new Chinatown at Best Buy yesterday. Looks like someone might have messed up a bit.
|
Just checked Best Buy's website and they do have it listed. Reminds me when they carried Emanuelle in America not knowing it contained hardcore scenes.

Just checked my local Borders "store inventory" and it was "in stock" for $39.99....This will be a blind buy for me, i dont know if it is worth it to spend $35-$40 on this version...or get the unrated one disc version for $15-$20? |
Surprisingly this is being released on Blu-Ray on Novemeber 4th. It's 2 disc and cost less than the deluxe 3 disc edition.

Probably because not all of the features are being carried over.
quote from thedigitalbits.com we've got art and disc specs for Image Entertainment's Caligula: The Imperial Edition Blu-ray Disc (due 11/4, SRP $29.98)! It will be a 2-disc set, that includes everything that was on the previous Imperial Edition DVD release. Disc One of the Blu-ray will include both the 158-minute uncensored version of the film, as well as the 153-minute alternate edition, with DTS-HD audio. Extras on Disc One will include 3 theatrical trailers, 12 deleted scenes and 3 audio commentary tracks (including Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren and Ernest Volkman). Disc Two of the Blu-ray edition will be a standard-definition DVD, that will include all of the Imperial Edition's documentary extras. |
Glad I waited then. Sometimes procrastination pays off.

It shapes out to be the ultimate Brass presentation. I don't think that any other film from the director's body of work will ever receive such a lavish treatment.
