Watched it today. A decidedly average film, though the price was certainly right. The transfer in general looked fine.

According to a poster at the Criterion Forum, Fox is working on another big promotion for the end of this year...a dual-set containing the 20th Century Fox films of Frank Borzage and F.W. Murnau. The Murnau films will be Sunrise and City Girl; presumably the old disc of Sunrise will be used here, as well as most; if not all, of Borzage's surviving silent films made at Fox, including surviving fragments of The River, and his beloved trilogy of Janey Gaynor melodramas.

By far a more exciting prospect than the Ford box, as only one of those films have had an English friendly DVD release. Borzage was one of the best directors of the American silent cinema.

Now if only Warner would get around to *their* silent catalogue. Wink.

Is this a limited edition? I was hoping to pick it up with the DD 20% off sale, but they don't carry it anymore.

It's OOP. If you have a Costco membership, you can get it for $119 until June 8th.

And by $90, I assume you mean $180?

I'd be falling over myself to get this for $90...

I just looked at that a couple weeks ago and new and like new sets were starting at $90. I certainly stand corrected. Amazing.

It's one of the most beautiful DVD sets I've ever seen. I would love a complete Hitchcock like this. Or Orson Welles!!!

Yes, great deal.

Shame that I traded getting it for a great price and now it's too late for the Frontier Marshall disc.
