does anyone have a "FS nudity that's not in the WS version" list?

I know that Terminator 3 has some additional nudity on the FS that's not on WS and by now, you should know about JA in The Break-Up, but does anyone have a complete list?
the only reason why I thought of it is because I was just watching Thir13en Ghosts and the Angry Princess ghost is topless (with makeup) every time you see her, but then in the special features there are ghost bios which is in FS and suddenly she's on screen with full-frontal nudity....so I'd be a fool to not be curious about this... :)

OldBoy 06-09-07 12:23 PM

what about JA in "The Break-Up"?

islandclaws 06-09-07 12:57 PM

^Did you read what he wrote?

I seem to recall some addt'l nudity in Dreamscape if I'm not mistaken...

shacmasta 06-09-07 01:56 PM

So that's how they plan on getting rid of those fullscreen versions.

PatD 06-09-07 02:59 PM

"Jackie Brown" -- more of Bridget Fonda's backside.

TexasDVDer 06-09-07 03:15 PM

OP, are you saying that the FS verion of The Breakup has Jennifer Aniston topless?

inri222 06-09-07 03:47 PM

Unmatted FS version of Carrie on the Criterion laser disc you get to see Sissy's bush in the shower.

Seantn 06-09-07 03:53 PM

Freddy Vs Jason, the girl at the beginning of the movie when she gets out of the water and stands on the dock.

Yes, I was wondering if all of these examples are a result of unmatted versions vs pan & scan.

Rizor 06-09-07 04:24 PM

Don't know how relevant this is, but it's something along the lines of this topic. When I saw it 'Marie Antoinette' in theaters, it was badly projected so during the scene where Marie makes love to Fersen, it showed Kirsten Dunst's breasts, which aren't shown when the film is properly framed. Unfortunately, a fullscreen version was not released. :)

"National Lampoon's Vacation"...more of Beverly D'Angelo.

salamander2 06-09-07 04:58 PM

Joey Adams topless scene in SFW
Samantha mathis scene in PUMP UP THE VOLUME (the DVD has both)
Some of Kelly Preston's nudity gets cropped in MISCHIEF
Some of Elizabeth berkely's bush gets cropped on SHOWGIRLS

SterlingBen 06-09-07 05:03 PM

All these years widescreen has been the wrong choice :(

Or :cough: lack of.... ;)

While there may be isolated shots in Showgirls that expose more in full-frame than in widescreen, Berkeley goes full-frontal/full-backal/full-tilt everything so much in that movie that it's hard to really count this as much of a bonus.

Subgeniusguy 06-09-07 05:19 PM

Pics?!?

But for those Berkley completists......

They've been showing this on cable (in full screen) and they are not visible. Not sure if you'd see the same as the DVD but maybe someone needs to take one for the team and buy it.

I did a quick google and according to a website that had a screencap of it, it
is from the Full Screen DVD.

See Full Screen is better. Those black bars are covering up stuff.

Comparison pics?

Doc Moonlight 06-09-07 08:20 PM

Faye Dunaway's breasts are visible in the FS version of BONNIE AND CLYDE (it's the scene at the beginning when she is looking out he window).

Zen Peckinpah 06-09-07 09:50 PM

The staff at Flesh of the Stars would highly appreciate this information.

"Titanic" - I think you see Kate Winslet's butt in the FF version.

"Two Moon Junction" - In the unmatted version, there's a spread butt shot of Sherilyn Fenn.

"Ghost Story" - In the scene where Alice Krige is at the window nude, when she turns around you get a good look at her full-frontal, which is cropped out in the widescreen.

"Cat People" - Loses some nudity from Nastassja Kinski, most notably a butt shot, IIRC.

"Single White Female" - Jennifer Jason Leigh is shown full frontal in the shower, which is cropped in the widescreen.

Speaking of "Carrie" I read somewhere that Sissy Spacek took the role with the agreement that she not show any lower frontal nudity, which was exposed in the first VHS releases. (Subsequent VHS releases in the full frame ratio have had that scene reframed so as to not show anything below the waist.)

"Heavy Metal" - Even though this is animated, the full frame has a couple of scenes of full frontal nudity that aren't present in the widescreen DVD. (In "Harry Canyon," when the femme fatale asks to get in bed with Harry, you can see her bush. But the DVD crops the scene just above "the line." The full frame can be seen in the workprint. Also, in the "Taarna" segment, as a robed Taarna is in the temple her robe slips open below the waste and flashes her muff. Also cropped out on the DVD.)

I don't think that the scene in question was ever shown in an actual release of the movie. It somehow got leaked and the studio has been sending cease and desist letters to web sites that have it up. Which I doubt they would bother doing if they had released it themselves in a FF release or broadcast.

reubs82 06-09-07 11:34 PM

I guess that explains all of those episodes of Friends...

If ever the userpic fit the post...this would be the one.

Kristi Sommers in TOMBOY
K.C Winkler's lower frontal nudity in H.O.T.S
though not WS, the DVD of RUNNING BRAVE the lower nudity in the shower scene seems to have been zoomed in, unlike the old VHS.

DVDFreaker 06-10-07 04:59 AM

In the Glass House, LeeLee in the swimming pool, you can see her boobies in full screen

Dane Marvin 06-10-07 09:40 AM

Can someone explain why this is? I thought you weren't losing anything (only gaining) with a WS transfer?

Numanoid 06-10-07 11:25 AM

More of Linnea Quigley's wonderful rack in the back seat of the car in Return of the Living Dead.

Very simply put: There are several ways to shoot a movie. Some are filmed widescreen to begin with, and there is nothing more to see. Others are filmed in a 4:3 ratio, and the widescreen effect is handled upon projection at the theater (there are little gates that move up and down on the projector that block the top and bottom of the image from getting projected). When a film like that is transferred to video, sometimes they show the whole 4:3 image, without remembering or bothering to frame off the top and bottom. Sometimes it pays off, other times it reveals stuff that was never intended to be seen, like boom mics and other filming aparatus.

or boobies.

Hammer99 06-10-07 03:01 PM

Goldie Hawn in Best Friends
Lori Singer in Sunset Grill
(and I think) Kate Winslet in Holy Smoke.

MGR 06-10-07 03:58 PM

Who da thunk??
So occasionally fullscreen can be more interesting than widescreen. What an epiphany! Great thread!

There's an explanation with picture examples here:

http://www.widescreen.org/widescreen_matted.shtml

MetalGator311 06-10-07 04:55 PM

I'm surprised so many people can list examples, I would expect you buy one and never view the other

GreenVulture 06-10-07 05:20 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this not really happen anymore due to monitors? In behind-the-scenes footage, I often see people looking at playback monitors with both a square and a rectangle on the screen; unless I'm mistaken, I thought that was so the picture could be properly framed for both widescreen and fullscreen, and avoid showing boom mics, lighting and accidental male/female nudity.
