I was so depressed over this story that I went to Best Buy and walked out with Tarantino's entire film catalog. Security didn't notice me and I didn't realize what had happened until I got to my car. When I went back, the manager sliced me in two with a Hanzō sword. I couldn't believe it!
I thought Hanzō stopped making swords. |

I just received my copy. It's region 2 but I have a region-free dvd player so it's all good here.
TWBA is different than the Japanese Cut of Vol. 1 entirely. If that is what you are speaking of. Getting so tired of waiting for this. Thing is I know I'll be way excited when it finally decides to come out. |

I wasn't too mournful lol..but i was walking thru the line..and I just..kept walking and walking until I got to my car and drove off. Didn't notice...I actually stole them till..well...I got home.

Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Those of you who have the Japanese DVD releases can already watch TWBA. Just minus the new anime sequence that was added. Anyway, if you read the reports of what was different about the full length cut that played at Cannes and Austin a few years back. It states that the baby cliffhanger was removed from volume 1 and also that Michael Madsen (Budd) does not appear in volume 1. Also it states that there's an intermission. But where?
After The Bride interrogates Sofie in the trunk the screen fades to black. There's your intermission. Stop the disc before the next scene. Now insert volume 2, set everything up accordingly and start on chapter 2. This will skip the recap with the bride driving and go right to the next chapter of the story. When you do it like that it really does feel like you've just got back from an intermission and are just continuing the film. Now to comment on those who feel that it really is two films instead of one because the two are completely different. 'Kill Bill' was written and shot as one film, not two. The original trailer shows clips from both volumes. It was split in two due to length concerns. I think it's sad that we live in an age where anything over 3 hours is considered too long. When watched as one film everything fleshes out better. For example The House of Blue Leaves is no longer the end of one film, but the end of the first half of an even longer one. But the biggest difference is the removal of the cliffhanger at the end of part 1 and this is what makes 'Kill Bill' work better as a single work, rather than two separate films. If you don't know that her daughter is alive and you see her for the first time when Beatrix sees her then the scene is way more powerful. It's shocking and completely tear jerking. Try it and you'll see what I mean. Anyway you can watch Kill Bill as one film with the other DVD releases, but for TWBA you'll need the Japanese releases. |
Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
This thread now has me listening to Nobody But Me. But in any case, Sidewinder, that's a really interesting point, seeing the movie without the daughter scene.
Makes me wonder how future generations will see the Star Wars movies...because if it's I-III then IV-VI, that'll be a huge loss for them. |

Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
This thread should be a sticky. With regulations on what is posted. We've waited too long for this fucker...every time a post is up it gets my hopes up for a split second..and then I realize it's some person saying something not worth putting this thread back on life support.

Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Actually people are being asses (and I should know, see avatar). The thread is titled "KB: TWBA". It isn't a thread specifically about the release date or news about a release. Your advice on creating it out of what is readily available is fully valid conversation.
Just because someone bumps this thread without release info doesn't mean the entire topic is taboo. You would have gotten equal shit if you created a new thread with your post because this one already existed. So it's really lose-lose. |
Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
I can almost guarantee you that if and when an actual solid release date is announced for this title and someone posts it here, a mod will then close this thread and (in the spirit if the film) start a Part 2 with the release date in the title. Until then, you cannot expect people to stay away from all discussions of this potential project. I bet the info would be many places before it hit here anyway.

Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Thanks Pinata. All I was saying that if you have the Japan releases and you want to watch TWBA, then by all means go ahead.

Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
From Wikipedia:
Tarantino confirmed at the 2008 Provincetown International Film Festival that a single film version of Kill Bill with an extended animation sequence is scheduled for release in May 2009 |
Re: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
I never even went to that film festival.
