The other 50 I purchased at $1.50 each with the sole intention of reselling on eBay, which I wound up getting about $200 for, thus making the other 25 free and leaving me with $50-odd in profit. It was a nice wekeend.
wow
you must have had a warm fuzzy feeling for weeks.
that rules
most i ever bought at once was the Best Buy warner special edition/300 glitch
i think i bought 16 2-disc sets at the same time... and paid about $80.
other than that, probably getting a Columbia House order which is 7 or 8 titles depending.

The most I've bought at once was somewhere between 6 - 8. I remember right before having back surgery a few years ago I stocked up on new DVDs to watch during my recovery.

Think I got about 20 or so at the Tower going out of business sale, which was a big haul for me. Will get around 10 at a time at the conventions. Usually have to keep it small so the wife doesn't freak out.

We had our baby shower this past Saturday, and one of my wife's friends gave us the complete Baby Einstein DVD collection for our small fry. That's 22 DVDs!!
I hate to brag, but this was just too cool not to share

When a local mom and pop store went oob, I picked up about 100 or 150 of them. Used were $1.00 and new were $2.00, box sets about $5.00. I grabbed a X-Files season boxset for $5.00 then exchanged it at Best Buy for full credit. I sold a bunch on eBay to get my $300 back so the balance I kept were free.

I think the max was maybe 50 or so during a DDD sale. The sad thing is once you stack them all together it's not as impressive.
Max in stores was maybe 10 or so. I remember giving a friend $200 so she could buy a bunch of Criterions at Borders. She had some ridiculous employee discount. This was before I knew DDD existed.

My best gifts were received this past Christmas from my MiL and wife - all told I came away with:
Band of Brothers tin
Life of Mammals box
Blue Planet box
Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection
Bogart Signature Collection Vol2
Martin and Lewis Collection Vol1
LOST Season 2
Grey's Anatomy Season 2
King Kong Extended
Double Indemnity
Munich
It really doesn't get much better than that
