DVD Talk Gold Edition
Already preordered The 40 Year Old Virgin and Flags Of Our Fathers/Letters From Iwo Jima 5 Disc Set. I'll probably get Roots eventually, just waiting for a price drop on it. Any of the John Wayne stuff is a possible future purchase too.

Quite possibly the biggest week ever for me. This is going to be painful on the wallet:-
(1) Adventures of Marco Polo - Insanely miscast Gary Cooper flick, but lots of fun. Samuel Goldwyn sure knew how to put on a show of a film.
(2) Big Jim McLain - John Wayne's anti-communist manifesto. Quite artfully done really, from the early "How goes the union?" quote to Wayne and James Arness at Pearl Harbour, it has a certain dignity to it that makes it difficult to criticise.
(3) Broken Arrow - James Stewart, Jeff Chandler, directed by Delmer Daves. The one great film about the indiginous American of its time. Urinates from a great height on the very similar Dances With Wolves.
(4) Can-Can - More Sinatra is always good.
(5) Casanova Brown
(6) Epic Movie - I possess no shame. Loved Date Movie and all the Scary Movies. Sure I will love this as well.
(7) Fury at Furnace Creek
(8) The Gary Cooper Giftset - A great star gets his due. Been wanting to see The Winning of Barbara Worth for many years.
(9) Hell & High Water - One of the forgotten early cinemascope films and directed by Sam Fuller. Also includes the Biography episode on Richard Widmark with quotes from the great man himself.
(10) The John Wayne Century Collection
(11) No Man of Her Own - Another interesting film recovered from Public Domain hell.
(12) Pigskin Parade
(13) Rio Bravo - I never get tired of watching this. Dean Martin sure knew how to play a drunk. The terrible 'need' in his eyes is something astonishing to behold.
(14) Roots - 30th Anniversary Edition
(15) Scarface (1932) - A great film. I have no more to say.
(16) So Proudly We Hail
(17) Straight Time
(18) The Third Man (Criterion Collection) - Buying mainly for the new extras including the lengthy making of and two new commentaries.

Already ordered the Matrix Trilogy (HD) from the CC price mistake. Will also be buying Apocalypto (SD) and Flags of our Fathers/ Letters from Iwo Jima (probably HD). Roots is a future purchase and I'm unsure about the 40 Year Old Version (2 disc) and the new Porky's Boxset.

i'm surprised not a lot are getting "Scarface" (1932) given that many clamoured for it to be released solo.
