Fight Club Steelbook? (06/05/07)

It looks like the old 2 disc set in a new case.

There are a few threads with the info already:

It seems that Fox is re-releasing several big MGM and FOX titles with the steel book case.

Yep, THAT's what I'm keeping my eye on. Might just upgrade if that turns into a fact.

I wonder if the four commentaries would remain if DTS is included.

Can they improve on an already stellar DVD by adding DTS and steelbook packaging (w/ kickass art)? Sure looks like it.

I don't know. The original is almost perfect, and as enticing as this is it's also something I'd want in HD once I make the jump. Buying it now just because the case is purty seems kind of stupid. Not that I won't wind up getting it during the next DDD sale or something...

I said it in the other thread but it bears repeating:

SONY, MAKE STEELBOOK THE DEFAULT BLU-RAY CASE AND WRAP UP YOUR DAMN FORMAT WAR ALREADY!!!

There was also a fifth commentary that was dropped for space reasons years ago, if they could also add this and DTS, I'd definitely pick this up.

I think the picture quality would suffer if they cram 4 commentary tracks and a DTS track for a 139 minute movie on a single DVD.

I believe it was The Dust Brothers. I remember hearing about it back when the original DVD came out, so my memory may have gotten fuzzy over time.

Hell, if Sony did that I'd support Blu-Ray. Anything that turns a DVD case into a weapon is worth supporting in my book.

I'm in for the Triple dip....

Even if it is the same stuff as the 2-disc, Steelbooks are just so tempting...

I had to order this. I just sold my original 2-Disc Set for $11 on Ebay, so I am basically paying $9 for new packaging. Which is kind of a foolish thing to do, but this is easily in my Top 10 films of All-Time so this one is worth it to me. & I do love Steelbook DVDs.

As much as I hate double-dipping, I love Fight Club enough that I would buy this just for the case. I already have steelbooks for Dune and The Departed, and they are so damn sweet.

(Also have steelbooks for Halo 2 and Doom 3.)

Yea, if this is one of your favs then by all means, double dip. I picked up the Dune Extended Steelbook as well as the Boondock but those both had an upgrade in picture and sound. Just upgrading for a steel case seems like they are really diggin deep for new sales. Too bad for the thousands of people that won;t know any better.

I had picked up the single disc edition a while back from CH when the original 2 discer went OOP. Never got around to getting it when it resurfaced, but with the (hopefully) certain sale upcoming at DDD, I'll see what else is getting released in steelbook and grab it then.

That Dune case is a VIVA metal case and not a Steelbook. They are different. Afaik, the Steelbook is a patented case from Scanavo, not a generic name for all metal/tin dvd cases.
