Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

I need some help from some scooby-doo experts. I just finished the latest release, Scooby-Doo Where Are You? the complete 3rd season. I thought this would be the last of the episodes I want and do not have ( I don't care for scrappy-doo or the newer series). However I know that the phantom racer episode is not there and neither is the one with the vikings or "Vampires, Bats, and Scaredy Cats". Does anyone know what series these were part of and if we will ever see them?

Yes, I know there are Movies episodes missing, but I am not holding out for those to ever be released at this point.

I believe your missing episodes originally aired as part of the Scooby Doo/Dynomutt Hour. They'd do a 30 min episode of Scooby, followed by a 30 min episode of Dynomutt and the Blue Falcon. The shows were completely autonomous, and I think when Scooby went into after school syndication they ran those Scooby episodes as part of the Scooby Doo Where Are You? series, even though they were made years later. I know I've seen some of those episodes run as Where Are You? anyways.

Hopefully someone smarter will come by and either confirm what I posted or explain what the deal actually is.

The only pre-Scrappy episodes left (not including the missing New Movies episodes) are the eight that ran as part of Scooby-Doo's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics. These episodes actually aired in between the Dynomutt Hour and Where Are You season 3 episodes. Here's the list of them, from Wikipedia:

2.1 "The Curse of Viking Lake"
2.2 "Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats"
2.3 "Hang in There, Scooby-Doo"
2.4 "The Chiller Diller Movie Thriller"
2.5 "The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race"
2.6 "The Ozark Witch Switch"
2.7 "The Creepy Cruise"
2.8 "The Creepy Heap from the Deep"

While I obviously don't know for sure, my guess (or am I just hoping?) would be that these would get released in a Laff-A-Lympics set.

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

No update on Scooby stuff at all. They were releasing season sets annually in the spring since 2004, but they didn't release anything in 2009 except for repackaging Where Are You episodes in volumes. I wonder if they are done with the season sets, or are just taking the year off?

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

I just found out something interesting, apparently there's a handful of these episodes not yet on DVD that are available as videos on Amazon and iTunes. Here's what they are:

The Laff-a-Lympics segments (the eight I mentioned up a few posts)
Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (first season with Scrappy)
All of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show (only first 7 episodes are on DVD)

If they are available digitally, then what's the holdup for releasing them on DVD?

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

here i got all excited thinking there was some update! :-)

I would like to have a physical copy of the remaning episodes. I could purchase the digital versions, but it would be a giant pain to be able to watch them on the tv for me.

Maybe 2010?

According to The Digital Bits
Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics: Volume One is due on DVD only on 1/19.
I hope this contains the missing episodes! Cross your fingers!

Yup... tvshowsondvd.com announced this on the 16th. They got a pick of the artwork and the episode list. Guess I can get rid of my Scoobys-All-Star-Laff-A-Lympics VHS tapes now. Woo hoo! Anywhoo... Here is the release info...

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

At a Target in Lexington, KY this evening, I saw the Laff-a-Lympics Volume 1 & Volume 2 for $9.99 each. I held off on buying with each containing just 4 episodes. Now bringing up this old thread, I see Volume 1 is still yet to be released and I don't see Volume 2 listed for sale anywhere (unless I'm missing something).

Interesting about volume 2, but I'm glad to know it's only 4 episodes a piece, I'll hold off now. I learned my lesson with A Pup Named Scooby Doo

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

Volume Two is marked as a Target exclusive right now, I'm sure it'll be generally available in a few months.

For the record, in case anyone wasn't sure, the Laff-A-Lympics DVDs ONLY include the Laff-A-Lympics segments, with a bunch of Hanna-Barbara characters competing in Olympic-type events. They do NOT include the individual Scooby-Doo segments.

This is disappointing news. On the bright side, it is a new year and I can hope that 2010 will end with me watching these missing episodes.

So am I to understand that BOTH Scooby-Doo Laff-a-Lympics are available at target as we speak? I know Voulme 1 is supposed to be out this coming Tuesday but Voulme 2 is out already at Target? I'm just trying to keep pace here as to what's being released as a friend of mine loves this show. Any further details would be greatly appreciated. Richard

^ I saw them both last night at a Target. However, even Target.com shows the first one as being "not yet released"

Man this is all getting confusing with these Scooby-Doo sets. Now's there's a 4th Season of SD: Where Are You at Target? How much were those Laff-a-Lympics ones and this exclusive set?

Could this just be those individual discs that were coming out after the season sets came out where there were like 4 episodes from the original seasons?

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

The Scooby-Doo Where Are You volumes are just single disc releases of episodes already released on the season sets.

Re: Missing Scooby-doo Episodes

Thanks guys for the responses as I was getting confused with the titling of the sets of SD: Where Are You? I saw that and the two laff-a-Lympics DVDs at my local target forten bucks each yesterday, but also held off, knowing there were more episodes that were produced. Hell, just release the whole first season of Laff-a-Lympics and let's stop with this crazy volume stuff. Enough is enough already.

I'd recommend buying the previously released seasons of Scooby-Doo. From past experience I think that the missing episodes will show up on a complete Laff-A-Lympics set or an additional season of Where are you! So it may be worth holding off for a possible Laff-A-Lympics set for that series.

In the case of the missing New Scooby-Doo Movies episodes, I don't believe they will ever be officially released, unless some studio big wig is a SD uber-fan and is willing to pay the requested royalties.

For those wondering my collection includes:
Scooby Doo, Where Are You! - The Complete First and Second Seasons
Scooby Doo, Where Are You! - The Complete Third Season
The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies
Scooby-Doo And Dynomutt Hour: The Complete Series
Scooby-Doo's Spookiest Tales (this contains one of the "missing" episodes
"Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats")
Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders / Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (Double Feature)
