I got To Catch A Thief: Special Collector's Edition

The anamorphic transfer is gorgeous. The picture has been zoomed out a lot so that the image is visible in its full VistaVision glory horizontally (even though a lot of it is gobbled up as usual by my rear-projection TV's overscanning). The editors have also made interesting choices as to what to show or not to show in the vertical field, that are different from the preceding edition. I also like the colours, the relative lack of aliasing and the new fake surround sound which is discreet enough to not overwhelm yet potent enough to give the film even more zing.
It has a new commentary by Peter Bogdanovitch and Laurent Bouzereau and all the featurettes of the preceding edition. It's also sold for almost no money.

I'm giving the old edition as a Christmas gift as usual.

Give "Deliver Us From Evil" a rental. I just got it yesterday, watched it last night, and not only do I think it's the best of an amazing set of documentaries released last year, I think it's one of the best films from last year period.

And if you like the film, and are wondering whether to pick up the disc (I haven't seen any reviews), it boasts an excellent anamorphic transfer and is loaded with valuable extras (I've reviewed them all except for the commentary track).

I may pick up BIG at some point, but not this week.

(2) Classic Western Round-Up, Vol. 1 (The Texas Rangers / Canyon Passage / Kansas Raiders / The Lawless Breed) - mainly for The Texas Rangers which I have good memories of despite not having seen it for twenty plus years.

(3) Classic Western Round-Up, Vol. 2 (The Texans / California / The Cimarron Kid / The Man From The Alamo)

(4) Dakota/In Old California - Didn't get these the first time out, and even though the transfers are reportedly average, I must have them.

(5) Dark Command/Lady Takes A Chance - ditto

(6) Dirty Dancing 20th Anniversary Edition

(7) Fighting Seabees/Wake Of The Red Witch - Red Witch is probably Wayne's best performance.

(8) The Guns Of Navarone (Collector's Edition) - probably the best "get a team together and go on an impossible mission" type film of all time.

(10) Night of the Werewolf (El Retorno Del Hombre Lobo) - Naschy nashes his teeth.
