OK, I have been a memeber of this form since 1999 love DVD's, and just actually looked at a house with a buddy of mine that is looking, this family had an impressive DVD collection and organized. Now I have mine in a wall shelf but there is a door on it so they are actually hidden from view.

Looking at it from this perspective it was really tacky, no matter how well organized or neat, I could not help to start to make some pre-concieved notions about the people based on the DVD's, like horror movies mixed in with Shrek, etc... Did this mean that the 6 year old had access to the "R" rated movies and could watch them? You get comfortable with the look of somthing in your own home but when forced to look at it from a different view, comes off completly different.

My overall thought was if I had mine displayed this way I would hide them from site...

Pack them and give your Mom a break, it is very stressful to sell a home in today's market. Plus it IS her home correct?? I would have only asked you once, then packed them for you if you lived in my home...

You act like you're dying or something. Well, you're going to live and your DVDs are going to be safe from potential thieves. Aside from that, the overwhelming consensus here is that you're giving your mom a better chance of selling the house without them there than with them.

Thank you for starting an such an interesting thread, op!
