The 1st 3 seasons had a $100 MSRP on release date. Around the time Season 4 was announced for release, they were dropped to $60.

The answer is yes. It is made by most of the people that work on the Wire and thematically it is identical. Although The Wire is much more violent and shot cinematic ally, where as Homicide is a little lighter and shot like the Shield (or more the Shield is shot like Homicide).

Questions for all you Wire fans:

I just got all 4 seasons on DVD and eventually plan a marathon....Don't know if I will catch up in time before the final season in January.

Dominic West is pretty much the lead character in this series right? How many episodes did he appear in during season 4? I heard it was very limited and more of a "guest star" status.

Also, does the theme of the show change every season? I heard season 4 focused on the schools and kids while season 5 is supposed to focus on the media.

He has about 1 scene in each episode until the finale, whch he has a slightly larger presence.

The theme does slighty change every season. Season 2 is the most radical change however.

Every year they use a different version of Tom Waits' "Way Down in the Hole" from from his album Franks Wild Years. Season 1 was a cover by The Blind Boys of Alabama, season 3 was by the Neville Brothers, and 4 was by DoMaJe. Season 2 used Waits' original version.

There were 1 or 2 eps where Dominic West didn't even appear. It wasn't until after I saw the ep in question when I thought "Whoah...I forgot all about McNulty."
